Title: Cycling advice
Post by: moses on October 11, 2014, 02:01:51 pm
Am doing a long cycle ride tomorrow, we'll for me anyway. Robin Hoods bay to Whitby then Scarborough and back. When I walk I normally take pants for a change mid point to minimise chafing. Does the same apply for cycling?

A decent pair of cycling shorts should see you fine. I've done 40 miles today and no chafing. It's a bit different to walking as your inner thighs are not as close together. Good luck!

It all depends how much you sweat as to how much it will affect you. Generally for me if I am going out for more than 20 miles I will use stu's chamois cream (though not that brand - is it any good), and I am usually fine.

Done the Robin hoods Bay - Whitby - Scarborough and back to beginning via Ravenscar mast. No chafing but everything else hurts.

Well done moses, lovely part of the world to get the bike out. I am afraid the only way to stop the aching is to do more cycling!
