Although if you read that story, it was one of the aircrew that made the unacceptable remark, whereas the rest of the cabin crew were particularly helpful.

In this case the individual deserves action taking against him, not necessarily the airline...

I think the point is that the airline failed to provide equipment and a service that they are apparently required/legally obliged to.
The fact that one of their employees was a rude, ignorant knob, is mostly incidental to the article.
