Just wondered if anyone has/had a gambling problem and has any advice?
My son has got addicted to these machines in high street stores(scum of the earth part1) which are opening up all the time,he self excludes from one then another one opens up!! :headbang:
Ive taken control of his money but he then borrows of fecking payday loans(scum of the earth part 2) or friends,Im struggling to advise hence asking on here :(

How old is he?
The machines should be banned. He won't stop until he really wants too. Try Gamblers Anon, I know that's worked for people I know but not others. Sorry to say I know people that have lost hundreds of thousands at it and their family but still don't stop.

I have no experience with this at all but have one suggestion.
Find something else for him to do that is not necessarily exciting, but is "addictive" enough to keep him occupied, that he will want to return to.
Sounds simple but the difficulty would be finding the right thing. Video games (OK that can create another addiction but won't potentially cost as much), reading, some form of art activity, making delicate models etc? Depends what takes his interest and what is affordable.
And of course if you're at your wits end, get professional help...

The 1st thing is wanting to stop, unless he wants to stop its very very hard

Does he want the help betsy,I have been to ga and it's not a very nice place to have to go,unless he wants the help and is determined he will be fighting a losing battle, all you can do to help is not give him any cash,if he needs anything buy him it instead of giving him the money
