This has never been a tennis forum...

Except when monkeys are involved.

Looks like the balls in the mods court to move it to off topic 😏

Iam looking forward to the prick getting blanked by many at next
Wimbledon 2015

I dont mind Andy Murray. Am I the only Englishman ever to have uttered those words?

Definitely not Rob, I'm a big tennis fan and I honestly can't see the issue a lot of people have with him. People should be proud of the fact he is the most successful British tennis player since the 1930's rather than constantly harping on about a joke he made when he was a kid. And let's face it, what Scottish person DOESN'T want England to lose at football? Perhaps his recent comments regarding the Scottish Referendum were ill advised given what's happened to him in the past but he's got the same view as 45% of other Scottish voters!
Tonight was a bit of a lesson for him, I don't think he even played particularly badly, it's just Federer was on a whole different planet. I went down to the O2 on Sunday and saw Murray vs Nishikori, was a bit of a disappointment to see him lose but it's a great event and I'll be sad to see it go after next year (not confirmed yet, but pretty certain the ATP will want to move it when the contract ends), I've been to every one since it first moved to London in 2009.
As for the rest of the tournament, really hope Federer wins it but can't see past Djokovic, he is on fire at the moment.

I'm not a particularly big fan of Murray but there is no doubting he's the best tennis player this country has produced since Fred Perry started playing the game in Stockport.
Federer is a phenomenon but it doesn't excuse Murray. Federer is not to be unestimated but he is now a fading force, Murray is supposed to be in his prime, this result confirms how far Murray's standard has slipped. I put it down to him missing the best coach he has had in Ivan Lendl.
Murray has chopped and changed his coaches, I think he needs Lendl back and if that can't be done he needs someone who can put the edge back in his game. Isn't it a job John McEnroe wanted to take on?

I'd definitely agree Murray is missing Lendl, he should do whatever he has to in order to persuade him to come back.
Definitely don't agree with Federer being a fading force though. He struggled in 2013 but this year he's won more matches than anyone else and very nearly got back to number 1 in the world. I am slightly biased as I worship the guy but I think he's got at least 2 years left at the very top level and probably another grand slam title in him too.

I think his choice to publicise his nationalist view at the referendum puts the lie to the idea that his 'joke' about England football was anything other than the truth. I don't even credit him as having such a sharp wit.
I don't have any problem with Scots or any other nationality having national fervour but Murray has no qualms about feeding off the support of the British public at Wimbledon and around the world. He ought to show a bit more class.
