Purely a guess but split the difference and I expect that to be near what Copps stayed for. Based on nothing!

I reckon forrester is our biggest earner! Most of the rest of the squad have been signed under the current regime! Forrester wasn't so based on nothing but an inkling I would imagine he was signed on promises of mega bucks!

Forrester is on quite a bit more than 6k a week. He didn't have a relegation clause

£300,000+ per year! Professional footballers inhabit another planet compared to the rest of us. (Yes, alright, it's been said many times before!)

I believe it is nearer the 10k mark. But I agree worth nothing like that. Also factor in the expense of trying to get him fit all of last season

not in the know but it was reported copps, wellans were on over 10 grand last season, and as the board was reluctant to resign either and also wanted quinn off the payroll could be right,i personally would think maybe jones or main could be well up there remembering main was still under contract at boro, but the highest earner is without doubt is johnson but who pays his wages

Forresters on no where near 10.

Can't see Johnstone being on much,am sure his contract at his age will be quite a low basic and goes higher if he gets in the 1st team

I think Johnstone will be on a fair whack but we won't be paying hardly any if at all

you dont sign a 5 year contract with man unt for peanuts, hes not a young trainee anymore and an england under 21 international

No but equally I'd imagine the younger players would demand less off of the top Premier League clubs than they would expect from others, I imagine being contracted to Manchester United has much more value to youngsters than the money involved.

Tyler Blackett who has played a few games for the 1st team is reported to be on 2k a week I would put Johnstone round about the same, but it's just a guess

Wellens drives a Ferrari apparently.

Hey-ho. It's a symptom of a society that accepts that those at the top have unfettered earning power.

It's not always been like that. I suspect Ian Snod had an XR3i or maybe a Celica Supra.

Which one was the better player relative to the standards of the day?

BST it could be argued that Wellens has played at a higher level for Rovers than Snod ever did. Though I'd have Ian in our side without a doubt (at a playing age that is).

Yep, but Ian Snodin was a gnat's knacker away from the England World Cup side in 1990. Whereas Wellens has never played above Div 2 level.

And yet look at their cars.

And then ponder on what has happened to the world since the 1970s

Not so long ago, Jason Price had a Peugeot 306.

Carl Swan drove a TR7, and had a great big medalion around his neck, and he had a perm, he was crap though!

I doubt very much any of our lot are on more than 3-4k per week. 10k is absolute fantasy. If we were stuck with someone on that they would have been loaned out ASAP. We cannot carry a half million pound player. League One average is around 80k so probably small handful of ours on 150k plus but most on sub 100k.

We can guess, but that's all

You would like to think Copps is our highest earner because he would deserve it for what he's done at the club.

It's a strange business is football, where else does the shop floor workers earn more than the manager, and the shareholders keep propping them up?

Cops was on 8k a week 4 years ago. He's on less than that now.

dkn

I stand corrected on the car.

The main point still stands though. Wellens has been a decent Tier 2 player and, if he's not wasted all his money on personalised number plates, he should never have to work again when he retires. There won't be many Div2-3 players from 30 years ago who could say the same.
