Steve Utley has said tonight ticket sales are at 2500 - lots of people have said from the off the price of tickets was steep.
I cant see a surge of tickets from now and Sunday and would expect possibly 500 more sales, so 3k for a legend of the club and to see other legends of the past.
The question has to be asked who agreed the prices? Were the club hoping on an influx of 1D of fans snapping up the tickets?
Massive PR fail for me and im sure the club are ruing pricing lots of fans out of the day
-
It is abit steep like

I agree it is overpriced, and does reflect badly on the club, but the club is innocent
-
One of the clubs greatest ever players and this is the turn out he gets? Shocking. Hopefully sales will pick up over the next few days for copps sake
-
About 30 of the greatest players/managers/chairman this clubs had over its recent history and only 2500ish tickets sold, add into the mix LT and the 1D factor = somethings wrong and it points towards the pricing, as certainly the emailing to people who registered to the events team has been good, It reflects badly on the club even if DRFC has nothing to do with it, the clubs name is splattered all over, the average punter will put it down to the club no matter what
-
They should slash it to a fiver to get people buying over the weekend.

And rip off those who got tickets weeks ago? Would be totally unfair and they definitely shouldn't do it.
-
I bought a family ticket the day they went in sale and I genuinely wouldn't care if they started handing these tickets out on the street! I want the day to be memorable and for their to be an atmosphere in the ground! I am disgusted that more Rovers fans have not got off their backside and bought tickets for this game! It should be a celebration of what these players have given us over the last 10 years! The price for a ticket was high but not so much so that so many would stay away!
-
If the club had let him use the ground for free the prices would have been less. I know they are doing everything at cost but surely they could have swallowed the costs themselves as a jesture of good will??
-
do you think the Brendan Ormseby game may have affected it

How many under sixteens are you taking rtid88? I've got two sons & two step-daughters all under sixteen £52 for their tickets alone plus another £21 for mine,As much as I would like to be there I just can't afford it at these prices.

This. Some things are bigger than caring about if I've paid more for something.

orient Tuesday, home game Saturday,mk Tuesday, stretch on the pocket for most people, could have done without mk game
-
Only 200 and odd went on Tuesday and not many more will go to MK so I don't think that will affect too many though.
-

You can't blame the club - the organising committee simply got it wrong, they thought that the LT factor was going to be far bigger than it was despite the low turn out when he played for the reserves.
-

I don't think the club can do things for free. There are strong regulations about what help individuals can get in their testimonial year, otherwise it all becomes subject to the interests of HMRC.
-
There was never going to be many at this match, yes they are ledgends but unless you go every week all they are,are ex players, was in pub last night talking to a couple of lads that just go to the big games wembly,Cardiff ect and they hadn't a clue the match was even on

I think the club could gesture facilities to him and it not affect his tax payments. In the same way footballers on 100s of thousands of pounds a year are giving their time for free for him to earn (raise) money from them.

Didnt know they made that much from herbalife.....
-
Just bought mine now, around 3000 sold. I'm not going for the crowd, but it really does look a bit grim..
-
The Coppinger flag arrived today! Looking forward to revealing it to everyone, including Copps, on Sunday

Sadly not, it's more complicated than that .

Excuse my ignorance, how much would it cost to hire the KM for day?
-

I'd imagine the price varies drastically according to how many times you want to hire it, what you're wanting to hire it for, and who you are

I recently came across the programme for Alick Jeffrey's Testimonial game at Belle Vue in 1972.
I can't recall the attendance but Alick organised a Man City 'legends' 11 to play an Internationals legends 11 as follows .
Man City . included .. Rodney Marsh , Tony Book , Mike Summerbee, Colin Bell , Tommy Booth , Francis Lee ,
International 11 included Johnny Giles , Jack and Bobby Charlton , Peter Lorimer , Pat Cerand Malcolm Mc Donald , and favourite Dennis Law .
-
I remember going to that game but I have a feeling quite a lot of those advertised didn't play.
-
Knottingley Rover I understand that some people can't make it due to the amount of tickets they would have to buy, I am taking my 2 daughters and myself and my fiancee are going and no it wasn't cheap but I just simply would not miss it for the world! What I am saying is that I can't believe of the amount of fans we have had over the years young and old from around the country that only 2,500 fans can make it! I am also saying that at this point to get more fans coming I genuinely couldn't care that if they r were giving tickets out for free now (which obviously won't happen!!!) because I feel that the players that are making the effort to play in this game and have given us many good times as well as some bad deserve to have a good atmosphere and a good reception! Unfortunately I don't think this will now happen!
-
I am looking more forward to Sunday than Saturday, After the rubbish we have been dished up this year.
-
f**k me adsrover stop banging on how shite we've been will Ya and the rest who agree with him, you don't like it why? -
y ask? Don't u think I aprerciate what this lad as done? but I also feel the same about many other players who I think av done the same, to be honest a proper testimonial against one of dickoves old clubs would have been better like Man City were cops takes all reciepts
-

-
I have to admit that I would love to have seen this be a superb event but the pricing looked ridiculously high from the beginning.
It's such a shame that , just like JR/LT's harebrained idea, the lesson of overpricing wasn't learnt :(
Copps deserves better but the committee have 1) Massively over estimated the One Direction factor, 2) Under-delivered in terms of those starring in the event ( see King Alick's testimonial above ) and 3) Massively overpriced an event of this kind. Alex Ferguson's event cost £18 - 24 for an adult (55,000 rolled up on the day) . This was for the testimonial of what some see as GB's greatest manager at GB's biggest club. Now like him or loathe him AF attracted the cream of English and International footballers to this match...that is a fair comparison. Certainly not one I would like to see but a 'fair' comparison.
Supporters won't be able to see the likes of Careca, Vialli, Cantona, Beckham, Weah etc. at the game on Sunday.
All figures and info taken from google.
-
So Hoola ur simply not going to the event out of principle because you think the price is too high??
-
What other Donny Legend that Copps has played with would you have had??
-
Keegan can't be playing, can he?
-
They ought to have someone going round the car boot tomorrow morning advertising it as well.
It might possibly bring a few more in if it's a nice day.
-
It I was able to be there tomorrow I would be. Hope there is a decent walk up on the day.
-

Isn't Copps having another testimonial against Middlesborough at the start of next season?
Perhaps many fans are waiting for this one when the admission price will hopefully be more reasonable?
-
I'd definitely go if I was in or near Donny. I'd prefer this to a league game. It's likely to be a fun day day out with some heart warming moments.

Had to get in a dig at JR didn't you?
Don't go, you won't be missed.
-
If the game attracts around three thousand, that's not a bad crowd when we have been getting around the six thousand mark for league games.
It's still a lot of money achieved for charity, i do think the price is a little high but if you can afford to go you go, if you can't you can't, our fan base has grown over the years, give it time to grow a bit more.

It's frankly ludicrous to compare this to Ferguson's game. The players playing aren't legends of the game but they are legends in the Doncaster Rovers story of the last decade. I for one would far rather see Doolan and Blundell play than any of the names you mentioned with whom I have no emotional attachment whatsoever.
-
Well said Nick!!
-
I'm going - and I think it's gonna be ace! I'm gonna have to leave on about 70 mins unfortunately tho due to playing myself at 6! Bugger!

Always amazes me that posters who have been registered, in Underwood's case 4 days, can make comments as if they have been a forum member for years, hmmm. Perhaps that is why a reasonable discussion quite often turns into a personal slanging match.
I agree with hoola btw. Shame the game was priced to get the most money in rather than get the most fans in.

I may have been a forum member a short period of time, however i've held a season ticket since the mid 90s since I was 10 year old, so I think I am well entitled to make comments to anyone who seemingly is just trying to have a dig at the saviour of our club.

You are perectly entitled to any view you want on the knowledge you have. I am just wonder how yourself, as a forum member for 4 days, can attack hoola for his comment? As far as youn know, hoola may be JR's biggest supporter and praised him continually for years. In fact as far as you know, this may be the first negative post about John Ryan on the forum? Lucky guess? Friends tell you? Been researching the archives? Or........
And as I mention earlier, you attack hoola as the poster in your inital post, rather than his opinion of the crowd funder scheme. Hence why a reasonable discussion turns into a personal slanging match.

I did ask yesterday but got no response!
-
Will it just be the West Stand that is open or East/South too?
-
Think its only east and west stands
-
I thought I saw Mark McCammon at the game yesterday, before game in carpark.

Doolan is massive now but boy can he still play at this pace! Great fun!

Underwood , I happen to think the world of JR and at one time would have had his baby . It wasn't a dig believe me just ananalysis of what was definitely another 'harebrained ' idea that demeans all that he has done for the club and that is ... A huge amount.
BTW where does it say that I wouldn't be going - read the post again properly before suggesting that it might be better if I didn't go !
