Title: Tonights FL Awards
Post by: silent majority on April 19, 2015, 10:09:29 pm
Two causes for celebration.

DRFC won Johnstones Paint Community Club of the Year for Yorkshire and the North East for the work done by Club Doncaster Foundation. Congratulations should go to Liam and his team for their incredible work and putting DRFC on the map again!

The Capital One Supporter of the Year went to Sarah Watts of Brighton and Hove Albion. Tragically Sarah died earlier this year of a brain tumour. For those of a certain age you will recall that Sarah was a great friend to DRFC during the Richardson era. I've known Sarah for some time due to her work with the FSF and with the supporters trust at B&H too. A sad loss.

I knew Sarah too SM.  I first met her back in the Richadson era when i went down there to pick their brains. Sarah, along with Liz Costa, Roy Chuter (also now, tragically, dead), and several other crucial people, were all very good friends to the Rovers. Sarah and I swapped Chrissy cards ever since and we met up whenever one of us was near the other.  She was a beltingly good person.

I texted liam this morning to congratulate him and the team - he was nursing a bit of a hangover! Lol! Great news all round! Once again rovers recognised and rewarded for doing stuff right off the pitch! Yesterday was a really good day all round for rovers - the legends game was great fun, some great players, manager and chairman on view and celebrated brilliantly by everyone there! Liam's team keep going from strength to strength! I was very proud to be a rover yesterday! Now if only we can put that right at home on our turf from next season!
