Title: legends linesman
Post by: thorneydave on April 19, 2015, 11:52:41 pm
Can someone tell me who the linesman was in front of west stand at the legends game. All seemed to know him and was a good laugh. I recognise him but can't put a name to him. Ta

He wasn't the worst we've seen on that side this season either. ;0)

What doesn't he do, or what hasn't he done for the last 40 years.......
Don't think he's actually managed the team yet or played but certainly everything else. A diamond for the club.

He's the secretary of the retford branch of the supporters club. He's well known by most who regularly going to away games and travel on the supporters bus. He was also a well known character at belle vue, has co-commentated on Rovers games for local radio, and been the mascot on numerous occassions - most recently Eric The Viking. Like RedRover said above, he's probably done everything but manage the club  :scarf:

Top, top man with the sounds of it. I knew the face and name but didn't know the rest of the story. Many thanks.

I thought it was very fitting he was involved. I've known him for nearly 40 years and he is a legend in his own right.

Listen to his "we're going up" commentary on local radio after the play off win at Wembley. Always chokes me up. Pure emotion.

Hope he does not see it tbh

I did send a copy to TraxFM just after I took it and said to them - just show Paul this sometime during the Rovers Show when you are discussing Biscuits etc

No idea whether they would use it but as Paul was running through his prediction for the next game he suddenly blurted out "Oh my god" and I knew what had just happened instinctively - and apparently they had just spun the Laptop round with it on which surprised him to say the least !
