Ok folks, let's put it to the test. What do you think of the clip that went viral yesterday?
-
Or how about adding "a bit of fun"
-
I would have voted bit of fun as I can't see how it's a own goal, but also can't see how it can benefit the club it was a laugh simple as
-
It benefitted the club by putting us in the public eye again.
I really try to be optimistic on issues like this, so let's just say!!!
1) The marketing team got their heads (or act) together and did something positive to attract the attention of the public and put Rovers in the public domain. (great stuff it worked)
2) If the marketing team did the Video without thinking, then they learned something that they can take on board
(Hey every day is a school day).
And after a game like Saturdays we needed something to cheer us up.
Does it really matter at the end of the day, the amount of websites, journals and media that picked it up was brilliant, and the praises for it are still echoing around the world never mind just the UK.
If it was done purposefully then well done DRFC, keep up the good work.
Regards
Ray

It has over 300k views at the end of the day. That's the only figure you need to see.
Who's the grumpy sod who said own goal? Bet you're a barrel of laughs
I imagine you are the type of guy who complained to the bbc when Rita Ora showed too much cleverage on the one show
-
Sorry, could've put "bit of fun" but I suppose that sort of comes under the heading of insignificant in the grand scheme.
My thoughts when posting the poll were that you can please all the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time. As long as there was a majority one way or t'other that would categorically mark it as a success or failure. So far it's looking like an overwhelming success.
-

No it wouldn't.
It would simply be the view of fans who bothered to vote.
Our fans...not those having a good laugh at our expense.
-
Surely marketing should be judged on what it results in, I.e people through the gate? It's got people talking that's for sure, but what will that result in? We might make a few quid from affiliate clicks on websites but it's hardly going to put 2k punters on the gate for Scunny.
Yes it's funny, yes it's got us publicity, and it probably won't have any detrimental effect, but to call it a great piece of marketing when it doesn't really do much aside from get people talking is probably going a bit far.
Edit - that puts me in the insignificant camp
-
A bit of fun that hurts no one. Quite funny.
-
Very funny clip and no harm done.
Only miserable gits living in the USA could take offence at that.
-
The only people whose view matters are those whose decisions to attend or not to attend matches would be affected by this clip. I don't know which way it would go.
-
So I am a miserable git aye Hound, the gloves are going to come off now. Where have said it's not funny, I have been showing people at work. If we are in the mood to start calling names, carry on, the posters on here will soon see who and what you are.
-
Woooo.
Did you show them where "the others on vsc are giving hound a pasting" then or are you afraid of being seen to be a liar.
Your posts on 606 are pathetic, telling lies to your other two readers?
Just grow up man.
I had not had anything but sensible comments on VSC in my few weeks on here until first bally and now you began to bitch at me.
-
I'm in the insignificant camp although I thought it was funny and got us some decent publicity. Rob The Rover hit the nail on the head for me. It will be talked about for a couple of days and then forgotten. That's how the internet age is.
-

I thought it was funny too, despite living in the US.
-
Orlandokaria, aimed at one particular miserable git mate and certainly not you.
How is Orlando anyway?
-
Nice one Karla. By the way Hound I did say hello and welcome, you are the one who turned things into a slanging match, so what's different.
-
.......and i said 2hello right back yankee" and proceded to explain why i left 606, in a nice civilised way.
What really happened though is that your mate bally decided to start trying to put me down and he went off on one of his rants in a few successive posts.
He then spoke to you or emailed you and you blindly decided to support him.
Commendable to support your mate but a bit foolish really.
As i said earlier, i have been on this forum for a few weeks now and have enjoyed a varied and enjoyable few conversations with everyone.
It is such a shame that you have had to come on and spoil it but i think i will try to ignore you from now on.
It is also a shame that 606 has gone to just four or five contributors to the Rovers board but like me, many have left because of the negativity of the few of you that are left.
I had a read today for the first time in weeks and have noticed that on your match threads you are very often the sole contributor.
Quite sad but i suppose it stops you from getting into arguments, especially when the one or two who now and then post a comment are having a whinge at the team andthe manager.
At a recent game after we had conceded a goal with about fifteen minutes to play the usual mass exodus began.
A chap behind me called out to those leaving and told them to sit back down and support their team.
How right that is and it is a shame that you and some others dont do just that.

HOUND
LINES 2 AND 4 TOTALLY WRONG - WELL I NEVER YOU HAVE BEEN PROVED WRONG
-
Just a point Hound, look at my profile and you will see I have been a member on here since June 2012 and have made 1296 posts in that time. I have not followed you at all.
-
Bally, i only have your word for that and as you are an ex copper i am not sure whether i can believe you.
-
Your son a copper is he not. And if you read what I actually did say about you. I then clarified it as you had a go at me by saying "I was trying to stop two supporters arguing" or similar words How the hell is that having a go at you.. Why you always want to be a victim for God's sake.
-
Oh yes ...I am not an ex copper I am a retired Policeman
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
-
why don't you save us all from your petty argument and do it by PM
-
If you tell the truth bally your opening gambit about me was "that i am never wrong".
You tell as many lies as your mate.
Oh, and you are an ex copper to me, and one who said that the police did nothing wrong on that day in Sheffield - remember.
-
I will be as polite on here as I need to be. Your son is a policeman so he is used to getting tarred with the brush of everyone who has done wrong. A bit like you and the business you used to have. One does it wrong and everybody gets tarred with the same brush. I really object to you of all people calling me a liar. But if it makes you feel good. Goodnight gRaham :coat: :coat: :coat:
-
Also I cannot be bothered to trawl through comments to prove a point, bit like the Dogs Bollox. goodnight Graham
-
Jeez hound and bally you are both more than welcome to express opinions and points of view on this forum as you would be on any but ffs take your arguments and sniping at each other into the pms please! Ha!
-
Couldn't agree more A1445 and Stockton. For some reason Hound loves an argument and unfortunately one tends to get dragged in, in an effort to clear the air. It then degenerates into personal abuse as you have witnessed. I will apologise on my behalf and will PM Hound. I did think you had to make a certain number of posts before a PM would go through. After today Hound has probably hit that mark.
Again I don't want our bickering to get to the point it did on Ja606 between Hound and a gentleman from down south who went by the name Donaldorover. Bally and I became involved because we had the same views as said Donaldo, Hound expected everyone to have his viewpoint.
-
Really odd though that since I have been on VSC that no one has entered into an argument until Yankee and Bally realised I was on here.
Everyone else had been polite with their responses even if they don't agree
Some things will never change which is why I left 606.
At least on VSC the posts are more evely balanced.
-
It shows how far things have dropped that this is a major talking point, rather than how well the players played, ''a cheap marketing pun for fun''.
-
... And on the 7th day He rested. But on the 8th, He awoke early and added the PM function, for He had grown weary of his creations squabbling on the forum.
