Title: Scooters
Post by: The Mighty Brian Rowe on June 29, 2015, 08:20:13 pm
Anyone know much about scooters (The Lambretta / Vespa types as opposed to the kids ones)

I'm thinking of becoming a fully fledged Mod (and get a cheap summer ride to work and back) but don't really want to fork out too much.

The second hand Vespa / Lambrettas seem to be a bit of a minefield and I have been looking at the Chinese copies that seem to be kicking about at around a grand new but with mixed reviews. There's also LML's which I've seen a few about and they seem to be a decent machine.

Anyone know anything about them, and can point me in the right directions?

Cheers in advance,

Chris.

I do happen to know that Lambretta's are two stroke engines which means they are incredibly simple to take apart and put back together if you ever need to. They must be. Even I managed to do it a few times.

Lambrettas are beautiful, but unfortunately they teach you how to mend stuff.

I had an Aprilia Habana 125cc a while back. No trouble with it and looked the part. Cheap if you can find them.

MightyBrian, you need to have a word with SheepskinStu when he gets back from Norway.

Cheers Fellas, very helpful. Probably going to look for a 4 Stroke for better fuel economy and hopefully a more modern / trouble free engine. Considering contacting my local Scooter club too.
