Absolutely gutted...Minder was in my top 5 TV shows of all time.

There are so many one liners from those shows that will live in the memory, all delivered by the man himself.  Quality writing delivered with aplomb

I was a big fan of George.
Bought his autobiography  when it came out.Fouund it very dry and dsappointing.  He just basically described all the things he'd  been in etc.
only person he seemed not to like was Rula Lenska.

Apparently George Cole disliked the character of Arthur Daley and couldn't understand why Arthur was so popular. Rather like Warren Mitchell and Alf Garnett, or Harry Enfield and Loadsamoney, I suppose.

He didn't like Rula Lenska because she persuaded Dennis Waterman to leave Minder.
