He got it right and a good result
Maybe some of the players did not respond but the new signings were up for it
Williams is the main man
Wellens brilliant
Coppinger mom
At last we have a defence
Well done rovers

If the players put the same effort/performance into our league games,we should be well up there,Whether they do is another matter!

Thank you for playing Harry Middleton. Now he's made it easy for you. Don't f*ck it up again Paul.
-
Thanks Paul. You've got lovely hair. Please stop taking short corners though. They never work.
-
on another note I do dickov watch and watch him as I'm sure he has false arms as they never leave his pockets its funny to watch or does he not know you can cut the cotton from his pockets just like arsene wenger can not do his zip on his coat

FFS the lad has just got into the first team. What are you expecting from him? To be motm every game?

no I don't actually,
-
Middleton was steady, he won't have a game with the space he had last night again.
He did ok keeping possession and passing side wards but lost possession a few times passing forwards.
I think Chaplow will start instead if fit, what was up with him?
-
Askern žzzzzzzzz
Some good performances last night but what stood out is the need for a right back who can stick over a cross (I'm sure there will be recruitment in this position) and the problem of sticking forwards on for midfielders and losing shape. Thought Williams looked a class above
We are going up!

Middleton was poor.
-
Agreed there was no balance down the right need a fullback that can overlap & put in crosses from the byline. Middleton looks promising & has a bit of energy what we lack in midfield he should be starting the next game, he will make mistakes but didn't look out of place. Coppinger was different class in the 2nd half

DISagree, he had gone energy, good passing and defended well. He did give the ball away a few times too many but he's very inexperienced at the moment. Against a higher level side he did well.
How many starts has the Lad made? He'll benefit hugely from last night and in my mind is now ready to kick on and be a proper first team player.
-
He sat in front of the back four and passed side wards, nothing wrong with that but it'll be a different kettle of fish on Sunday
-
thought dickov read the game well, playing one man up front played into leeds hands, they brought on woods to push further forward thinking they could win the game, dickov counteracted that by bringng on Tyson which pushed leeds back again.must agree with the comments on short corners particulary with the prescnce of jones in the area
-
He and Wellens compliment each other. We work the ball much better. Yes, he gave the ball away on a couple of occasions but everyone he plays, he'll get better and stronger.
The big plus for me is that he's not afraid to make mistakes and will try different types of passes.
-
Agreed, also he did make many forward passes.
I'd say he had a better game last night against Leeds than Wellens had against Bury on Saturday.
-
Middleton will do for me.
he looked very confident and i saw that Wellens wasnt afraid to give him the ball in tight situations which tells me that he trusts the lad.
-
Middleton made a few mistakes but otherwise looked very calm and assured beyond his years.
Carry on like that and I see him becoming a regular starter.
However I have a feeling that Keegs will be back on Sunday, possibly Chaplow too seeing how long Wellens was on the pitch for last night.
We need to be better with crossing, that was a weak link last night, and we either need a new RB (Luke could play Keegs' role) or at least trust Lund.
-
Luke did better last night, getting forward much more in the second half.
We all know he isn't a natural RB but he is doing his best because he is being asked to play there.
However, another Paul Quinn or Jim O'Connor would make a massive difference to us.
-
Sorry to keep repeating it but RB is so obvious, it needs fixing asap. Luke hardly crosses the half way line and he hardly ever passes forwards - it's usually backwards or sidewards.
What was PD thinking about 1st half with Evina & Forrester, one has a left foot and the other a right so please play them where they can do the most damage (as was obvious when Evina got the pen).
Then he wastes a substitution with Main coming on - surely a like for like with Paul McKay coming on for Middleton? Why does he insist on playing as many strikers as he can, when all it does is weaken our midfield?
Painful watching it on TV, but the pens were top class.

Totally different games though.
Wellens was also a lot better than on Saturday

Agree about the RB and it was odd to start Evina on the right wing.
However, to say McCullough isn't playing forward and doesn't get over the half way line is plain wrong. Last night, especially in the second half, he was up the right wing many times.
But he is still the wrong player in that position, we need a decent crosser there linking up from defence.
-
I thought Middleton was very good. Made a lot of forward runs beyond the ball which is what you need when you play 5 in midfield.
Essential we get a right back, it's so obvious we need one.
-
IDM, it is plain wrong to say he never does it, but that's not what I wrote. I'm sure I wrote 'hardly' in the sentence and if you check out the game again, I think you'll find I'm right. The trouble with him when he does get forward, it invariably ends up in him stopping and putting the ball back, thus ruining any forward momentum created from his run.
A good rb overlapping down the right and getting to the byline, then putting in a dangerous cross is simply something we do not have on the rhs, and someone is always having to cover for him when he's defending. Its quite simply wrong and its about time PD did something instead of sitting on his hands and ignoring the problem.
-
Middleton looks a gem in the making after seeing him start for the first time (me I mean not him). He'll get better playing with Wellens as long as Wellens kerbs the negative, prolonged gestures when the lad makes a 'wrong pass'. He wasn't afraid to show for the ball & for the most part read the game well against Championship opposition. He may even turn out to be 'a Wellens'......now we need one to 'look like a Copps'.

How does anyone know that he is ignoring the problem?
He is probably as much aware of needing a RB as anyone else and is probably doing his damndest to bring one in.
-
Middleton did well
Luke played better but not a RB
