Title: Team for rest of season
Post by: Retdon1 on March 09, 2016, 04:27:16 pm
I would go with a simple 4-4-2 for the rest of season and play with 2 wingers who will get forward and provide chances for our strikers  something like this
Stuckman
Alcock
McKenzie
Butler
Evina
Copps
NEW MIDFIELDER/Middleton
Grant
Stewart
Tyson
Williams

I wouldn't have ATS anywhere near the team and Keegan needs to get his act together, he's been very poor lately.

Thats about the strongest line up I think we've got when all are available.
Even then the midfield is desperately lacking.

This is pretty much the team I would choose. Stewart has to start the next game, Fergie wants players with energy and who can create things yet leaves him on the bench :headbang:

I think go back to basics, the 3-5-2 isn't working

Certainly watching the lowlights, I would again agree that ATS is as weak as piss. Has been for some time and is not up to representing DRFC.

I didn't think the back four we fielded last Saturday was too bad, although I was surprised that ATS was preferred to Evina at LB.

We didn't have a lot of width though, which is what you tend to get with a diamond.

It sounds a bit counter-intuitive, but I would play a 4-1-3-1-1 or 4-1-4-1 formation. It would both make us more compact and at the same time mean we attacked and defended on the flanks with two players rather than one.

I have a different team in mind

Stuckmann

Alcock
Butler
Mccollough/McKenzie
ATS

Stewart
Copps
Middleton
Grant
Calder

Williams

4-5-1

I wouldn't have ATS anywhere near anything resembling a football, he has an inbuilt fear of a football

It's hard to try and pick a team when we have 2 horrendous left backs and no centre midfielders are any good. I would try something like:
Stuckmann
Alcock Mackenzie butler Evina
     McCullough grant
Coppinger   Calder        Stewart
               Williams

Think we have to be defensively solid and I don't think Evina is

He's not.

As a defender he could rank alongside Denis Souza as one of the worst defenders we've ever had

Evina is a better footballer than ATS. He's not a great defender. However you cover that in two ways. You play Alcock or Lund at RB, who are basically defensive players, and you put someone in front of Cédric who will track back.

I don't know if Calder will do that, but if he will you could have the answer.

I have confidence in Evina. Would start him at left back in standard flat back four. Two big lumps in Butler and MacKenzie, then Alcock at right back.

Luke and Keegan/Middleton in midfield. Grant and Villa bloke as well.

Williams and Tyson upfront.

Best we have folks to try and stop defeat.

not 1 person can tackle properly
not 1 person can pass the ball
not 1 person can run with the ball
not 1 person can cross a ball
not 1 person can lay a ball off
not 1 person can bring the ball down on their chest . instead a rubbish mistimed header instead happens
don't get me started about corner kicks
and too many look to pass back or sideways
even Stuckmann ( who started well with his kicking...now sometimes is more like Woods) gets rattled by back passes sometimes laid off to his wrong foot.
