Joe Root was immense. England's batting line up is up there with the best. It's just the bowling - particularly seam bowling - that lets them down.

Finn is a big miss, but I don't understand why Plunkett isn't playing and Broad isn't in the squad. Equally I don't understand why Jordan is preferred to Woakes.

Topley was terrible.

Our batting is good, I just wish that Morgan would give that reverse sweep a rest, it hardly ever comes off for him.

Joe Root is immense in all forms of the game

Batting's not so hot today Filo.

Looks like it's the bowlers saving the batsmen's arses today rather than the usual! Morgan is going to have to really pull his finger out in batting, he's been poor for 18 months and even if we go on to win the thing there must be question marks over his place in the side.

Glad to see Plunkett in and bowling well - as TRB said I couldn't see why he wasn't playing earlier. Broad in for Jordan or Willey and this would be an extremely capable team, again I can't see why he isn't out there.

Stokes looks to be a bit of a problem as well - on paper he should be a top T20 player but something's not quite clicking for him.

And after the Lord Mayors show, we get that from basically the same team.
Like my school reports "could do better"

I don't understand why Jordan keeps his place come hell or high water. Ok, he's an excellent fielder but he isn't as good a batsman as Willey and his bowling is pants.

Morgan was shocking with the bat again and if he wasn't captain he'd be out once Hales is fit again.

Good to see the penny has finally dropped re Plunkett.

The Sri Lanka game may effectively be a quarter final.

Good to see Jordan performing at last. I listened to the closing stages while driving home yesterday. England held their nerve well.

Fantastic performance and result from the boys. Really disappointed the girls couldn't quite beat Aussies to make it a double final!

Turns out we'll be playing West Indies on Sunday. Bit of a surprise. Both sides love to chase so the toss will be crucial.

I'm not that surprised, I think that although they were most people's pre-tournament favourites (including mine) they've been pretty disappointing and Virat Kohli was the only reason they got through to the semi and gave themselves anything resembling a chance in that game itself. West Indies have put together in the past couple of years a really good T20 team and I think it will be a tricky game but I think we'll win.

On a separate note, it's a real shame that they're trying to close out the associate nations given the fact that Afghanistan have beaten one of the finalists, and given a real scare to the other.

The key to winning the final will be our bowling, we have to keep the likes of Gayle tied down and get them frustrated into playing poor shots, sadly I don't think our bowling is good enough. Also Morgan needs to find something with the bat, two first ball ducks isn't ideal preparation coming into a final

The bowling attack has 'grown' as the comp has gone on....Jordan certainly. We'll need the best part of the 20 overs just like the last 4 or 5 were bowled against the Kiwis. I can see us wining but we'll have to be at our best

Not the start we were looking for in the Final 23/3 after 5 overs

Well I never thought Stokes was a death bowler, shocking four balls from him, cracked under the pressure

Just seen the final over. What was Stokes thinking of? 3 half volleys aimed 18 inches outside leg stump?

And yet the other night he bowled a near perfect final over....Sport eh ??

Could he not have bowled a wide or two ?

Or much as I hated it 6 underarm deliveries a la Australia ?

A wide or two would mean an extra run on the total and the ball being bowled again

It did not seem to be that way in the Text I was watching. There were several wides and each scored a 1 but the overs did not get past 6

All overs went 1.1 to 1.6 but maybe the Computer did not have a .7 ?

Yes because the wide is not counted as a ball

Hopefully that brings Ben ( I'm brilliant ) Stokes back into line, I bet Samuels was in his ear giving it some. At least two those deliveries would have been despatched by an average 2nd eleven county player.

Given the relative success that Root and Rashid had I'm puzzled as to why Moeen never got a bowl

The good news on this is that they found it before we had a Muamba in cricket. But sad news for the lad

We did have a "Muamba" in cricket long before Muamba.

Fortunately heart screening has improved, and the Muamba incident highlighted the possible problems. But it came far too late for poor Wilf Slack.

Very sorry to hear about James Taylor though. He had a bright future in front of him,but hopefully he will recover and find another career, maybe in cricket.
