Title: Black bank
Post by: mushRTID on April 23, 2016, 06:05:28 pm
Why was there a seperate group today at the bottom? Have they decided to split up a bit to spread the atmosphere or has there been a falling out?

Was surprised how quiet it was today.

Some daft spadgers' think its a good idea to stand out in the wind and sing where no one can hear them. Started at Bury and they came out of the ground saying 'best away days in years'. I was in the same stand and couldn't hear them

Probably the same 6 people as at Chesterfield sang a completely different song to the 100s stood at the back.

I could hear the guys at the front who didn't stop singing for the whole game (About 20 young lads) but I couldn't really hear the Black Bank.

They did well, sang all game, jumped around and created atmosphere and even joviality with the stewards. Good luck to 'em.

Think it was the same group who all ran to the smoking area at half time? Looked like back in school when someone was looking for someone for a fight and everyone rushing behind them.

Call me a tradionalist but better to have all the singers together to get the whole ground going on occasion and a bit of back and forth between away fans. If you're not within 20 meters you barely hear 20 lads (what amounts to) pissing in the wind.

Unless you're in the south it's still a poor atmosphere. It started off so well but a 2.5k stand with 400 in it doesn't help

I thought it was a great performance from the BB today, especially in the second half.

It sounded pretty good from the far end of the West Stand, even with a relatively small crowd.

Well done all.

It would be great if all our supporters wanted to sing for the team, then the noise would be massive. But some can't maybe health reasons and some don't want to, everybody pays their money and can choose to do what they want to do.
The Black bank have good enthusiasm and have improved the atmosphere a lot, just imagine if they could double their numbers, the noise it would create!.

The black bank should have taken the lead from the lads at the front. The black bank has been very quiet recently and without the lads at the front it would of been like a library. There is nothing stopping the lads at the back singing with the lads at the front, we are all fans wanting the same thing. If this can be done make some noise of your own.

I could hear the lads at the front and I was well passed the half way line.

Sat in the west stand. I could hear the ones at the top but nothing from those at the bottom

It's counter productive to have two groups and its undoing the hard work that's gone into it

Given what we've been served up on the pitch, it's positive that the BB's made any noise. We've seen what can be achieved when the crowds are better, so let's hope the best is yet to come.

Shame there seems to be a breakaway at the bottom but, once we get going again that group will be outsung by the core of the Black Bank and hopefully common sense will prevail. Plus, they won't be allowed to stand in that area at the detriment of other fans who wish to stay seated.

Now correct if I'm wrong here ; I thought the allocated standing area was in  the middle at the top ?.
The reasoning was that it wouldn't obstruct the view of those towards the front and that it was a controlled area.

Now we have a group of daft lads singing deliberately opposite chants directly at the Stewards. I know because I was in the block immediately to their right. To have 2 entirely different chants going on is plainly ridiculous - we have little vocal support as it is !
Opposite chants , in the un-designated area is plainly going to piss off the Stewards and will probably have all and sundry looking for an easy excuse to shut the project down.
It was obvious this was annoying the Stewards who watched the problem grow , wanted to disperse the group by which time , following much dithering ....they abandoned the idea.

Grow up lads ( as that was all they appeared to be ) and throw your vocal weight behind the big boys in the designated area.

Baz they should have been shifted 5-10 minutes before the start of the game as they were building up . Don't the Stewards know the agreed rules. BTW anyone know who the woman in a grey trouser suit with the orange hair was ? She was walking to and fro at the front ( stadium management ? ) She was seen twice giving the thumbs up to these lads.......thought it was a strange thing to be doing ?

I was surprised the group at the front were allowed to stay there all game, they were virtually blocking off the walkway & there was at least one bloke who had to move as he couldn't see. Fair play though they were in good voice especially 2nd half & were joined by quite a few in & around them  too, all in all a decent atmosphere I thought.

SCC sorry mate  I was 10 yards to the right of this group and could hear the black bank quite clearly. All we've done is halved the effect . Why should the BB sing with them , every time the BB started singing summat these daft lads chose to sing an opposite song .

Now correct if I'm wrong but it's unusual for a kop end to be doing that .

Clearly these knobs are endangering the future of the Black Bank and they need to sort out their differences.

We all follow the same team and wrecking this experiment won't help us going forwards.

I wouldn't say everytime the Black Bank sang these sang something else. The lads sang all game non stop, they weren't just going against the BB. Yes, they should have been up there with them and not blocking the walk way to me they made more noise yesterday than the BB.

Just before half-time I said to one of them, 'you wanna be up there singing off the same hymn sheet'. It's only right.

You're wrong mate . I can only assume you  were one of them and it messed up the atmosphere. Yes they sang but they would sing an opposite song - I know I was next to them and got confused. Why encourage them ? They were openly laughing when they got an opposite song going .
This was not what I had hoped for from the Black Bank. Like the "sit down, shut up" brigade of the past - these will ruin our efforts to collectively get behind the team . It's a " kop" end that should collectively roar on encouragement not half some daft t**ts jumping about at the front in the wrong place, singing at our stewards, diverting resources, making folk behind them move, blocking gangways and risking all that has been worked for over the last couple of years.

You think that's good , feck me is it me that's going daft ?

And I assumed you could read, I was clearly wrong. Like I said earlier they should be up there with the BB and not blocking walkways and people's views... They also sang for 90 mins if that was against the BB fair enough but I applaud their effort for singing the whole game. Also, I wasn't sat with them I was sat to their right in the family stand.

I doubt any of them saw the goals as they spent the majority of the time looking up into the stand.  I also agree that they blocked the walk way especially at the end when everybody was trying to leave!
Go back to where you are supposed to be.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't one of the conditions/ guidlines in the creation of the BB was for those that wished to stand to congregate at the back, allowing those that wish to sit down or those that can't stand for long periods having an unobstructed view of the pitch?

I noticed yesterday the stewards seem to tolerate them standing there, why?

Perhaps they've been taken away because the same group were waving the down at the front, obstructing other peoples view, when they should be higher up the stand waving them

Yeah, what was that all about? We were just coming in from the smoking area when they all streamed out, 30 odd teenagers on a mission somewhere. No idea what was going on.

Everyone is right. The designated Black Bank standing area agreed by the club is at the back in the middle.

The reason they've all moved is the young lad who has been drumming all season, Liam, he has had about 8 strikes so to speak, he has been on thin ice for a while so it was decided for him not to be on the drum.

A lot of the younger Black Bankers decided to go to the front, or distance them selves form The Black Bank.

This didn't really effect the atmosphere as they couldn't really be heard and the new drummer did a great job. With the younger ones gone some new faces joined the Black Bank which was good to see!

To be fair, from where I sit in the West stand you could hear those at the bottom more than those at the top, but it isn't about who's the better louder group, it's about being together and creating a united atmosphere from the designated area agreed when the BB was born
