Being realistic, it more than likely won't be enough, but when you consider the early season form that got pd sacked, and the 17 game run, how frustrating. Even average performance during those spells would have got us up near the top 6!!!
On to next season, this team with fergie based on the last few games would rip L2 a new one!!!

Still nervous about retaining Ferguson and trusting him with the rebuilding if we go down as looks likely. Not sure he has ever been in a situation where he has had to operate on such a tight budget.

Didn't he get Posh promoted from League 2 a few years ago and into the Championship almost straight away?

Many successful L2 teams have a good L1 season straight after. This team is assembled already.

If we go down i cant see Rowe joining us unfortunatly.

I'll take a guess that if we go down at least half of this squad won't be here in L2
-
I think 51 may well just be enough you know. We just have to win both and pray.

ain't most of them contracted whether they want to be here is another matter.

Hang on a minute. 9 days ago this team were the worst in our history according to this forum
-
And this week.has shown this team can compete in L1, let's hope they still are next yr
-
Absolutely. Which makes it even more of a disgrace we are sweating on these last 2 games. The players and manager have been a disgrace for 3 months and whatever happens, heads should roll.
No way should we be where we are now

No. The PERFORMANCES that this team put in were amongst the worst in our history. The basic ability of the players wasn't. Their level of application and organisation was.

Without wanting to be the constant doom merchant are we not forgetting our poor goal difference which leaves us at least 1 point less than everyone else

Not true. We have a better GD than Blackpool or Shrewsbury. And if we are to catch Chesterfield, we will have a better GD than them. There's only Fleetwood who can realistically finish above us on GD
-
But Chesterfield or Shrewsbury (who have 3 games to achieve this) need just 2 points to be safe from us so goal difference is actually unimportant to them in that sense
The only team we can really catch is fleetwood who only have -4
I'm hoping Walsall beat them and we beat crew so we are level pegging on the last game
But the problem is that they are against crew on the last day and we have burton
I just can't see the miracle happening
-
Can see us getting to 51pts but the remaining fixtures for those around us aren't the most difficult either sadly.
-

I am with you on that but I will "hope" rather than "pray"
Also I am deffo not looking past Crewe where we need to win obviously
-
I'm still hoping!
I'll be fuming if we go down, especially after how we've played the last week. It shows they are capable. Still makes me wonder what has been going behind the scenes for the last 3 months

Adam, whether they want to be here if we are relegated isn't the issue is it.
As has been said many times, if a pay cut following relegation is in the contracts then how many will accept that.
They all have bills to pay and families to support.
They are people just like us, no one could blame them for wanting to pick up better money elsewhere.
As for 51 points being enough and will goal difference count in the end?
From 18th down to us, no one is safe yet.
It is easy to say that those clubs will pick up points but a couple of them could just as well lose their remaining games.
IF we can win both of our games we could possibly still stay up.
-
How many are going to find another club in league one willing to pay them what they are earnings now, given how poor most of them have been all season?!

At one point we lost what, 7 in a row? Both Colchester and Barnsley had similar losing streaks earlier in the season. It is not too drastic to imagine that either Chesterfield or Shrewsbury or Fleetwood (or all 3) may not win or draw another game this season.
Unlikely maybe, but let's take one game at a time!

Apologies if I've missed it but has anyone put together all pertinent fixtures

Thanks noticed it once page went back and refreshed
-
Doesn't make for easy reading, still a very tough ask!
-
I don't think Chesterfield will get the 2 points they need
-
Heard today that the Ref v Chessie apologised after the game for messing up on Penalty decision(s)
Anybody seen it or is it a rumour ? Admittedly it does us no good anyway !
-
I think if Chesterfield don't get their points on Saturday then they will end on 50
-

Well if we go down I guess we will find out.
Since the manager decided to dump the wing back system a few games ago the players have shown that they can play.
-
Work will need to be done on the squad whichever league we are in.
