Title: This kit deal
Post by: MrFrost on May 04, 2016, 12:50:44 pm
Is there more to it than meets the eye with these guys from Thailand?

I've heard a few interesting rumours, just wondered what other people's thoughts are.

I'd heard several theories

Investment
Takeover

Amongst others

Sounds like wishful thinking to me, it has crossed my mind as well but no substantiation to it.

Someone (SCWK?) raised this a while back, but I think he was only putting two and two together.

Investment would be welcome, but I think it's more likely that they see an opportunity to break into the UK market - both football and rugby league.

Had a lengthy conversation with one of the FBT UK employees at Bury away and obviously my sisters went to Thailand to meet the FBT owners. Their priorities at the moment seem to be primarily getting a foothold in the UK/European market. They view this kit deal as going on for a fair few seasons to come. They currently have an office somewhere between Barnsley and Wakefield, they will then take over the club shop and I believe there is some sort of tie-in with our academy.

From what I've been told the FBT owners probably have the means to invest in the future if they wished but it's worth seeking out other commercial opportunities in Thailand which is I believe what we were trying to do.

Yeah, GB said in an interview a few weeks back that he's been talking to people in Thailand about sponsorship and it's positive.

I have heard they also make replica fans , the plan is to have a cardboard fan in each of the seats and then you will not have to worry about attendances at the Keepmoat  :coat:

I posted this quote from GB a few weeks a go in a different Thread.

"They're a family-owned company and we're a family-owned club, it just ties in brilliantly.

"Their aspirations for the future for us, are really exciting."

Have they even got any dough this firm?

They've got a bit  ( $50m turn over) but not rolling in it.

Compare that to Nike's $7.4 Billion turn over and it's peanuts.

FBT was established in 1952  by  Mr. Kamol Chokephaibulkit   and  is now  Thailand's   leading   Sports Company which supplies quality sports apparels and equipment at reasonable price. FBT also exports to over 40 countries worldwide. FBT now has over 2,800 employees and has an annual turnover of more than $50 million US Dollars.

Don't think it would make any business sense for them to try and expand their business and then immediately cut in to their profits by chucking money at a football club.

Some relationship that could grow over time. And of course, the SOD resort on Koh Tao.

I always believed the revenue stream was going to come via the naming rights to the stadium (changes "i believe" can be made early - if both existing existing parties agree )

=====  so welcome to the FBT stadium   =====

we all remember mahras "manufacturing" that Leicester penalty that sent the rovers down

well just maybe   it's payback time -- his efforts won Leicester the "netball* premier league " (*any physical contact and it's a foul)

leicester owners are from Thailand as well
so it makes sense other businesses in Thailand want a piece of the action due to recent events ?

and revenue streams become revenue rivers

If they are renting an office near Barnsley, maybe they should move and rent office space at the Keepmoat.

In the last leicester v man city game that was televised FBT had an electronic advert almost constantly going round the stadium electronic displays! They're not a small fry company - they're not westernised yet!

Do the new shorts come with a y front and rip off gusset?
Is the answer Ant and Dec?

I've just been awoken from my "hibernation" by a new thread  called "stadium sponsorship"

http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=257786.0

so we can see the way ahead hopefully via the thai route

I presume we all know the history relating to the naming rights at man city's stadium -- they have very sharp pencils there

I presume we all know on 14 august 2015

" Football League Trust today signed an exciting new deal that sees FBT become the Trust’s official kit sponsor.

as we all know the football league is NOW known as the EFL (aka English as a FOREIGN language League)

this means all those nice people in their tops need new ones saying EFL

SO THAT'S ANOTHER ORDER FOR  FBT  !!!

I have looked at what that website looked like in 2015 9th june and it was all ok -- language looks Italian? --someone mentioned them advertising at an Italian tv match !

so obviously something is "going on"

interesting bit here

http://www.ladyannewalker.co.uk/

so FBT have a "right good contact here"

jv= joint venture
another piece in the jigsaw ?

I believe he delegates that to his PA. It's what most successful business people do.  ;)

Photos of the kits on sale do suggest the badge issue has still not been sorted yet.
