He was Leyton Orients captain, really good signing
-
Mixed reviews from their fans.

Sounds like went a bit stale there for him.
-
Sounds much like the other two signings. Decent league two player who if you play him in a decent squad it will bring the best out of him.
-
Baudry is good. Left footed I think as well, great signing.
-
Good signing!
-
The new dangerous Dave?
"Always had an error in him, but played with a bit of panache: at a premium at this level."
-
He did captain them when they got to the League One play offs a couple year ago. If we can get the best out of him it's a good signing. He's left footed too so brings a balance. Does this mean we won't be signing Tafazolli? If Alcock is seen as our RB for next season then we'd have room for another but if not I don't see us bringing in another CB.
-
I agree Gaz..In fact that's the best signing apart from Rowe we've made so far...Well done Rovers that's made my day...
-
Some expected him to maybe move to league one when he left Orient
-
A good signing I think this one. Squad starting to look decent.
-
Yet another one where nobody had any idea about our interest until the ink was dry
Well done DRFC
Bienvenue Mathieu
-
He's a ball playing defender too. Not just a "Get rid" kind of player.
-
I'm just glad Fergie doesn't see Butler-Alcock as a viable CB pairing going forward. I was worried for a moment he did.
-
Ball playing defender
-
Excellent signing, and as others have said, so good to see business being done on the hush-hush.
Yeah, there will be those 'O' fans who slate him, but I don't think I've ever seen one of our players leave without somebody on here saying good riddance, past his best, legs gone etc... etc... The fact that he has turned down not one but TWO contract extensions for Orient suggests they wanted to keep him so that speaks volumes.
If McSheffrey completes on Tuesday, that'll be 5 in before the end of May. When was the last time THAT happened?
-
His nickname has to be Long John, doesn't it?

Someone on the Orient forum saying we're going to go bust with all these signings were making.
-
Nice Wag in tow. :)
-
He can play in CM if needed too.
-
Just listened to his interview, says he didn't want to play in league 2 again and wanted to move up to league 1, but was convinced by Fergie to come here. He's doing a great job selling the club to players

Sounds a good signing. I'm sure we were linked with this fella a few years ago.
-
Hoo hoooo, I bet she's as wet as Rod Hulls roof.
-
Impressed with his interview and it also confirms how big a signing Tommy Rowe was in terms of bringing others in. He said himself that bringing Tommy Rowe in was a factor behind his decision (as well as Fergie obviously).
That ambition showed by Fergie and the board as clearly had a knock on effect through League 1 and 2 and players now see us as an attractive place to come.

Sacré bleu!
-
Wonder who our captain will be for next season, we have Baudry, Butler, Rowe, Keegan, Alcock and Copps all with experience.
-
I would keep it away from Butler and Copps, both play 10x better when they don't have the added pressure of captaincy, Rowe for me

"Fergie doesn't like characters"
-
Got a mate who is an Orient fan, his reply when I told him and asked for an opinion:
"Sigh. One of my Orient faves. Good centreback, a couple of years ago he could have been in any team in the Championship. Pretty good on the ball as well. Captain material."
-
Some expected him to maybe move to league one when he left Orient
He has (only he'll have to wait 12 months)!
;)
-
Looks a good signing, still need another. Butler and Baudry are the only two CBs if McKenzie is not wanted and MCCullough is playing in Midfield. But might have to wait to see if McK goes.
-
The best bit about this signing is we don't even need to add a "y" to give him his dressing room name.
-
Aye, good old Baudo.

Haven't we won L2 or it's equivalent the most times already?
We could add another star next year 😀

Not quite Filo - we have won tier 4 on 3 occasions, but Chesterfield have won it on 4 occasions
We do have an all comers record of 7 championships below level 2 (3 tier 4 titles, 1 tier 3 title and 3 level 3 titles when it was regionalised)
-
Brother-in-law (Cherries fan) was most impressed when I told him that we'd signed Baudry. Said something along the lines of: "Bloody good signing, that." That'll do for me - he knows more about this sort of thing than me and he's seen him play. Happy days. :scarf:
-
Looks a really good signing, good age, 6'2'', distribution good, does he have a bit of pace?
-
I had a strong feeling we would end up with this fella. He fit everything we were looking for, i suspect a few teams were after him!. By the time it gets to free press day, they will be saying we beat man utd and chelsea to him!. Good solid signing.
-
I had a strong feeling we would end up with this fella...
Really Sammy? And you didn't do a WAP thread/post about it? You must have been feeling poorly that day ;)
-
We need at least one and potentially two additional and dedicated centre backs. Second lad could be young 'un like the Ilkeston bloke.
-

Yes, as i see it looking at the released players, it's not that hard to narrow down the possibles. It's just that we will be competiting with other sides, so it's not an exact science. If another side beats you to one player, then the alternatives are pretty similar standard as well.
What you can't reason out is if the club scouts a non league prospect, then you have no list to work from.
Anyway, a good solid signing, and one who we have done well to get. I remember us being interested in him way back, i think when sean was manager!. As it happens i haven't been posting as many due to feeling a bit off.
-
This looks to me that DF is sticking to his 3 at the back Alcock Butler and Baudry with Lund and Evina as wing backs again.

You ought to get t'docs lad if tha's feeling a little queer!! ;)

I wondered about that. Even then I think we'd need a couple more defenders as we have no cover.
I'm also not convinced that Lund is a wing back.

I think he will go with the 4-4-2 diamond, served him well at Peterbrough and suited us when he played it towards the end of the season
-
I hope you're right, because we certainly improved a bit when we abandoned the 3-5-2 and adopted the diamond.
-
Pretty sure he'll try to implement 3 at the back. I bet his pre-season will be geared up to getting comfortable with it.

Lund?
Please god no
-
Please god will he not just let the 3/5 at the back go? Madness at this level. Can we also have less "ball playing" defenders and more "defenders"?
-

He seems to be well respected by the orient fans on his twitter. If you can take you eyes off his other half for a second, look at his eyes a touch of madness there. From what i've read he can look after himself on the field, and a leader, which we have struggled to find enough players of that ilk.
-
This definitely goes down as the very best post Sammy has made!

Have you been drinking again Sammy?? Haha As for his Mrs, I've kicked better out of bed, think she's an average looking thing to be honest.
-
And I've kicked out a lot worse.

You've never kicked anyone out, I don't believe that you pest!

Haha true, always did a proper job regardless.

You can only beat what is put in front of you.

It's about upholding a reputation as a pork swordsman.
-
This has turned bawdy.
-
In Baudry and Rowe it looks like 2 good leaders too.

Must be where the 'nudga' bit comes from, good job mark wright isn't the manager, footballs answer to max branning!.
