Title: Best manager of the 60s/70s

One for the older fans. I voted for McMenemy, who was manager when I started watching. The only other one I might have voted for was Stan Anderson.

Seems a bit silly to include caretakers like Cyril Knowles as he was in charge for precisely one game (though he did have a 100% win record!)

Haven't they got George Rayner's and Jackie Bestall's photos the wrong way round ?. In fact they haven't listed Rayner's name against his photo at all. For me... George Rayner gets top spot.

Yes, they have got the photos the wrong way round. Raynor was certainly a man ahead of his time.

Didn't Raynor only have 1 season in which we finished 9th/10th (ish) ? A bit of a come down from a World cup final against Brazil !!!
It would have to be McMenemy for me.

Raynor for me, he was the one who put everything in place for McMenemy, including the Watson/Leigh for Wilcockson/Clish/Rabjohn + cash deal with Rotherham

Yes Dutch. McMenemy was lucky to inherit a good team. Both here and at Grimsby.

Why isn't Raynor seen as having a successful time with us?, did he not stay in the job long?, was it board interference?.
