Manager, manager, f**king manager.

It's always the manager.

We've had every possible type of manager that you can imagine. We've had the best that England can produce. We've had the best that Europe can produce.

We been cack for 45 years.

It's not the manager. It's the entire structure of English football that produces limited, fragile nothings, tells them they are mega-stars and sees them embarrassed on a biennial cycle.

When is everyone going to wake up? It happens every two years because our game is f**king shite.

Decidedly short of English managers qualified/good enough to take the job on

Absolutely. The players should come out & resign as well. Not just from England but football altogether. That'd make a refreshing change.

Perhaps we should follow the Icelandic model of football.

After tonight's performance hopefully Rooney will retire

It's a real hindrance to the team when the press, along with half the nation, have an orgasm every time they lose.

It's called gallows humour BB.

We Donny fans used to be rather good at it before we all got uppity and sensitive.

It's not even the players fault DN2. Who is it that instills so much fear in them? Who is it that stifles their creativity? Who is it that makes them into shadows?

We can't blame this particluar set of players. If we did, we would have to similarly blame every single set iof players since 1966 bar the two groups in 1990 and 1996. And what made them so special? For me it was managers who found a way to release them from the fear. That's what's needed now. God knows how and where you find it though.

Me? I'd sack the FA. All of it. Then I'd shoot the entire press corps. Then I'd sit back and enjoy England playing proper togger.

Well you Donny fans should know that football's not a matter of gallows humour, it's much more important than that.

To some of us.

Some of us realised years ago that, unless you follow a perpetual winner, you'd better have a f**king grand sense of humour as a football fan.

If you expect anything else from England, you're pushing hope to a quite unhealthy degree.

I said 2 (or was it 4, or was it 6?) years ago, that is you accept England for what they are, you'll be a happier soul.

If you accept that we've always been about the 8th best country in Europe and the 16th best in the world, you'd get us into perspective.

Sometimes we're a bit better than that. Sometimes a bit worse. But we're rarely far from those targets.

If you go into tournaments with that attitude, you'll have a lot healthier relationship with England.

Billy, I think I've got a great relationship with my country. I love them to win. The difference between me and you is if my country had won tonight I'd have been the first on here to spout off about it, unlike you.  Unfortunately we didn't, so instead it was you who couldn't wait to spout off about us losing, unlike me.

You've clearly missed all my recent posts detailing how much I've longed for England to perform, these past 45 years.

Your call mate. If you insist on setting up a bogeyman, it's your call. But you are wrong every step of the way.

As I've said times many, I follow my grandad's advice. Laugh when you lose and laugh like bloody hell when you win. I've never seen the point in doing anything else.

Billy, I hardly picked up on you laughing at all during this tournament win or draw, but I concede you've cheered up somewhat since we lost tonight!

I assume you're now finally having a laugh to honour your grandad's advice.

No. Right.

You've smoked me out.

Ignore what I've said in numerous posts about how I've wanted England to light up a tournament for nearly half a century. I was obviously lying.

The reality is that I've been curled up in bed all day sticking pins in my b*llocks at the thought that Englad might win tonight.

I didn't sit there with my two little uns watching Rooney's penalty and joining their cheers when it hit the back of the net.

I didn't watch the rest of the match hoping, despite experience that this bunch would prove me wrong.

I didn't respond after the defeat with gallows humour to lighten the mood. I did it specifically because I knew it would rile you personally, because that's what I'm like.

You've got me bang to rights. I'm sure that will help you sleep tonight.

In that case the Billy Boy you're as f**king daft as me, but come across much more negative. Surely that's not what your grandad advised?

OK sorry mate, just thought it might do me good talking about my emotional problems following my country's defeat by f**king Iceland to a complete neutral.

Idd give it Eddie Howe with G Nev assisting. There's a lack of decent English mangers around at the min.

Gary Neville, couldn't assist in a fish shop, another over-rated p..ck. Eddie Howe he wouldn't want it, he's ambitious. We will get another new bunch of yes men coaches, with Gareth Southgate at the helm, god help us.

Even by the standards of ineptitude we've come to expect from England at major tournaments, last night was a new low.

But credit to Iceland. They have the Pub Team mentality that Rovers had at their best and I'll be rooting for them against France.

Nothing to add about the ineptitude of that humiliation, other than to say I'll hold my hands up and back track over the faith I showed in that team faster than the disappearance of a Brexit pledge.

Absolute shambles.

Sterling was brilliant in training!

Where have we heard that before? (cough - Lewis Guy - cough).

Back to putting in his Liverpool favourites, who have consistently proved they're not up to it. Spurs players burnt out, Rooney looking like a fish out of water, Hart the erratic headless chicken, Wilshere not fit/match fit...........

Mistakes made throughout the tournament - no game management - no management - no idea. And just to appease BST, the players were somewhere between average and appalling.

Yet, once again, the root of the problem lies with the FA.

Who appointed Hodgson? Who appointed them all right back to Keegan, Turnip Head and beyond? Who failed to heed the lessons of the last World Cup?  Who is it that puts style over substance to such continuing and awful effect?

While the money, continues to roll in, the national team, proper coaching lower down won't be changed. The fa continue to tell themselves ''We were just unlucky, ah well''!.
We had players who couldn't stand the pressure of battling iceland, for the opportunity to face france. In the group games, i saw it as a slight improvement, we were unbeaten unlike previous tournaments, but this game was too much for them.
Other countries have much more expectation on them, is not us fans. Most of us hoped for us to get out of the group, then see what happened.

Then we got iceland, and that should have been enough for us to battle past them to face france. Iceland knocked Holland out of qualifying, beating them home and away. They were unbeaten in the group games.
But still, we have champions league players, against a team that has a mixture of top , middle and bottom league standards. The iceland manager knows for all our blustering, when it comes down to it, we can't pass a ball under pressure.
He restricted the full backs influence, and got the ball quickly to the forwards. They were not even set up defensively, they had two up front.
When Wilshere came on, i knew it was over.
