Title: Countries in misheard Song lyrics
Post by: Donnywolf on August 07, 2016, 02:23:07 pm
I will start another "potentially" humorous thread to ease the pain of our first defeat

Name song lyrics with Countries in them but not such as Born in the USA or From Russia with love

Here's one :

All I need is a little love in my life
All I need is a little love in the dark
A little but I'm hoping it might kick start
Myanmar broken heart

Years ago, if you didn't know the lyrics, you could go for years, either humming the bit you didn't know, or getting it wrong, until somebody took the p..s.

I recently found out that amazingly and brilliantly there is a more or less accepted technical word in the literary world for a misheard lyric from a song or poem, namely a 'Mondegreen'

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mondegreen

Reminds me that decades ago I tried to create a word (withagram) for a two word anagram pair with a realistic meaning (e.g. oriental relation, ocean canoe, argentine tangerine, continued unnoticed.....I have a list of hundreds), and although it was published in a very obscure magazine it never caught on  :(

'Seaside disease', as in something you might pick up on a day out, would be a withagram.

real fun is two words not one, so 'real fun funeral' is not a word pair, so not a withagram. I used to call it a pseudo-withagram,  just like 'what a grim withagram' which was the title of my old article.
