See, much as I loved UB40 MkI, I'm also old enough to recall an interview with them in the Melody Maker in 1985 when they said that they were f**ked off with being right-on lefties and they were going to change their approach and make some serious money.
Which, of course, they did in spades. Chucking out the spellbindingly dark yet uplifting social commentary of "King" and "Strange Fruit" and "The Earth Dies Screaming" for American-aimed w**k like "I'll be Your Baby Tonight."
Still. Prodigal Son and all that, eh?

The perfect image of a future leader.........

...of a white reggae band!
-
Prodigal Son? Surely that was Steel Pulse? ;)
-
Wey-hey!
-
Why is Captain Beefheart on the left and a Brian Johnston impersonator on the right?
-
I thought second left was Brian "Nasher" Nash of Frankie Goes To Hollywood fame

Tell you what. Just looking at that picture again. Time's not kind is it?

They will have been on the 'Red, red wine', they didn't even know who it was. One of them said after the photo ''Who was that john prescott.''?.
