Shortly after retiring from working as a nurse at the end of 2010 my wife was diagnosed with a rare form of dementia (Pick's Disease). This is an aggressive illness and she is now in the final stages - wheelchair bound, unable to speak and needing feeding by syringe.
On Sunday I will be running the 13.1 miles from Newcastle – South Shields to raise money for research into this terrible condition. Anyone wishing to find out more about how the illness has progressed this year or who wishes to donate can do so at www.justgiving.com/JohnsGNR or text PATS63 £5 to 70070.

Best of luck I am running it also.

I managed to get around in 2h 22m without too many sore spots!

I'm sure Ernie Moss was diagnosed with Picks a year or two ago

Well done, was it you running in a Rovers shirt?
-
How did you chaps find it?
Didn't see any Rovers shirts this time around. Fair to say the sun was the beating of me though, I've plenty of sunburn that's for sure. Good old forecast wasn't quite right!
I did just under 1 hr 37m so not too shabby, not sure I enjoyed it as much this time, but raised some money which is the main thing.
