Yes Paul. She was going out with Graham T who lived across from you.
I know her very well. We worked together at DRI for many years. Saw her in town recently. Told me her husband was very ill.
Why do you ask?

No Sammy. He was a near top class hurdler in the late 60's early 70's that I was obsessed with. Dont get me started I could beat your record for the longest post ever going on about him. :laugh:

I remember reading about him one night when you put a post on. I like some obvious horses and some not so. Askern the racehorse was just before my time but because i come from there he has always had my interest.
Anay Turge , Thane of Cawdor and Kauto Star who won a King George for me when most had written him off.
Before my time but Red Rum just for his story of being rated nothing and winning the Grand National against all odds. As a kid my first national 25p ew on Durham Edition and West Tip.
Triolo D'Alene who is running this weekend. Harry Topper i could go on and on.

Sammy. When I was a lad in the 60's, Avril Vasey used to train a few horses at Owston. Think he leased Owston Hall. He had one called Skellow (where I lived) Don't know if Askern was one of his.
IF you walked  round Owston you would often see the horses training on the fields near Squirrel wood.

Askern was trained by Derek Hadyn Jones in the 80/90's period. He tended to do his winning at Ayr or Hamilton. I think he was just a good honest old plodder in handicaps.
My favourite of the lot is Simple Verse, i have followed her since her debut i've won a few times at big prices early on when nobody knew she was any good. I won on her in the leger which i thought was the right decision but those who bet on the other one would disagree. Who is the nearest trainers to the Askern/ Skellow areas?.
I know Ron Thompson trains somewhere near me but don't know any others.

... and DH Jones used to supply Pallets to where I worked and a driver came (by coincidence) one morning when DHJ had 3 runners at Donny. It mat have been a Leger Meeting

One was La Petit Noblesse and old age prevents me remembering the other 2. They said all 3 had "a chance" and I combined the 3 and later on 2 won with the third losing by a short head and I made a big profit whereas others had just backed in singles

Sammy. I backed Simple Verse in the Leger too. Should never have been disqualified.
There are no trainers round your end now.
Ron Thompson has started up again at Stainforth despite being nearly 80. His daughter Jayne was killed in a fall at Southwell I think it was.
John Balding trains near Bawtry. I know him due to being his brothers CPN years ago. Nice bloke. If i see him at the races he stops for a chat. His grandson Lewis Edmunds is a really good apprentice jockey.
David Griffiths also trains near Bawtry. He has that top class sprinter Take Cover.
Can't think of any others.

http://www.britishhorseracing.com/race-info/trainers/trainers-map/

Useful link perhaps. I was looking for the Trainer just at Brierley Crossroads who used to have Niteowler and a few other hosses and landed a few touches. O'Rielly maybe but he does not appear on here

Sure there are still Stalls an running rails there on left as you head towards Hemsworth

I agree on Simple verse she was the best horse in the race. The interference wasn't really of such that you should lose a race. Wasn't there a woman trainer who was married to a local runner Dave Tune i think it was?. There are a few others in Donny. Debbie Sanderson and Richard Guest, The former trains at Retford,  the latter trains at Stainforth. There must be something special about Stainforth.
