This question came up on my Facebook feed.
Worst Ground I've seen the Rovers at has to be QPR, overpriced and the concept of legroom doesn't exist.
Best (read favourite) is Burton. Modern terracing, and one of the few places I'll happily buy food inside the ground.
-
Best is very much open to interpretation, but for value comfort etc, I would say Brighton ( Amex ) and I really like Derby county.
Worst would be as Swinton Rover says QPR, and I would add into that Brentford.
The latter was slightly balanced out by some bloke getting a rather late late goal if I recall and making me forget I'd got no circulation in my legs from being rammed up against the seat in front...... Now who was that ?
-
Depends very much on the atmosphere and the importance of the match, as well as stadium comforts..
Worst for legroom for me was Luton, and the "concourse" in the away end at Bramall Lane is way too small for the stand capacity.
Best? other than Wembley, I would probably opt for Saltergate, I liked the oldy worldy grounds...
-
Best - Brighton
Worst - bramall lane
-
Luton and Bramall Lane are probably the most uncomfortable.
-
Luton and Bristol rovers worst for me
-
Best - derby/brighton always good - very decent modern grounds! Worst - difficult really - a lot of the worst grounds have been replaced! Never liked going to Burnley - always seemed to be a cold autumn evening! I think it's upped it's game there over the last 10 years!
Maybe it's least favourite as opposed to worst?
-
Depends how far back we are going. Halifax, Newport and Crewe pre modernisation of the grounds.
-
bottom section of bramall lane is awful, but luton and bury (old end) were bad too. No room at scunny either.
best...hull possibly
-
Worst I ever went to was leigh rmi in conference days.never seen toilets like them.
-
Hull City = The best. Fill your boots with the atmosphere from the stands.
York City = The worst. Fill your boots with the six inches of piss from the bogs.
-
My favourite Brentford😚
-
Morecambe was pretty naff the other month, especially to say it's a "new" ground. Probably still above the likes of Stalybridge and Weston though.
I echo Brighton as the best I've seen Rovers in, that was fantastic all the way through.
-
Hull best
Ossett worst
-
Best and worst, scunny and rotherhams old ground.
Awful ground but best away days
-
Hull City on Boxing Day when we lost 3-1 but the noise we created that day was unreal.
York city away or blackpools temporary stand in the pouring rain and the 100mph winds 🙈😤.

Think one of the best ground that ive seen rovers in is mk dons and talking of toilets what a shithole at Accrington Stanley

My first ever away game that 11 years after my first home game. Yes you're right. The noise outside as I walked up I thought it had to be 20000 Hull fans, turned out it was us. Ever since then I think out away support has gone downhill. Only because that day it was so good.

Chester in the conference play off semi final was alright from outside. Then i got a seat that was just round the corner from toilets that stank and the tea bar was next door to it. They had one woman serving on her own for a semi final.
-
They ran out of pies about an hour before kick off at Chester. Now something like that should be grounds for a points deduction!
-
The best two grounds in the country IMO, if you want history, atmosphere and a sense of tradition are either Hillsborough or Anfield. Never seen rovers at Anfield obviously.
I don't get people saying Brighton. Apart from a few rounds of 'Albion' there weren't much atmosphere when Rovers played there and queuing for a train to get to and from the stadium is tedious. Any decent football ground needs to have a sense of geography to it - that it belongs to the people and the place.
As for worst, Accrington's really is tinpot. Portaloos for bogs, no atmosphere. Thought Leigh's old ground were alright.
-
Best ground was Old Trafford mainly because everything was run like clockwork and the atmosphere on the day was brilliant...I know its a different world but they really know how to maximise there product....
Worst ground has to be Chester, awful ground, unfriendly people and shocking facilities....
-
The Best Ground I've been to by a country mile is the Westfalen Stadium in Dortmund. Transport is spot on. The food is good and reasonably priced. There is a massive terrace behind one of the goals and a smaller one at the other, which lead to an amazing atmosphere. The stadium itself is beautiful and in touch with its history with its immediate predecessor next door. Well worth a trip just to hear 80 000 mad Germans singing you'll never walk alone. at night there's no where better to watch football.
-
Best, Derby closely followed by Reading. And worst, to say it was a league ground at the time, The Shay. OMG!
-
I know it is not a club ground, but I thought the Millennium Stadium was fabulous

I enjoyed Halifax in the rain especially l the famous trophy night, getting in amd and out was always memorable too
-
best maybe Newcastle/brighton /millennium stadium !!! worst was a few years ago now chesterfield on a cold bitter 1st January windy cold and raining a shambles of a ground
-
Watching the Rovers-
Worst league grounds- the Shay and Springfield Park and the temporary side stand at Bloomfield Rd.
Worst non-league ground- Holsworthy(Joma Cup farce), Hallam and Runcorn.
Best league ground- Hulls KC Stadium, MK Dons and Upton Park for atmosphere.
Best non-league ground- Kidderminster, Boston and Workington
-
Got to be Newcastle then the millennium stadium/Worst Oldham on a rainy boxing days couple of year's ago, both Sheffield grounds are piss poor and need updating
-
The mention of MK Dons suddenly brought up memories of the Hockey stadium they used to play at. Another wind-swept atmosphere-less, not prepared for football shitehouse.
-
Best ground I've been to: Hull's probably.
Worst ground: Has to be Wigan's old ground... But it was the best for mudslides. Always thought Millmoor was a shitehole.
-
For me:-
Best Ground - Belle Vue
Worst Ground - Anfield

From the shape of Wigan's old Springfield Park I assumed they used to have Speedway or dog racing there. In fact they once had a trotting track!
-
Old Spotland was quite a dump. Withdean was just not built to be a footy ground. I liked the old Vetch Field though. Helluva place that for me. Don't think much at all of their new place. It's as soulless as ours. In fact, along with the Scunny I'd put them three down as the 3 worst new FL grounds in the country.

Leek town was bad that New Years day.No toilets or food.Dagenham was bad that 3-3 draw. Locked toilets.Leeds Road Huddersfield was a good terrace and the new grounds ok.What was wrong with the cinder bank at the Shay.
-
I was a Millmoor long ago with Rovers when a wall collapsed. Some broken bones I seem to recall. Utter dump.
Someone said they'd never been to Anfield with Rovers but some must remember the 2 - 2 game in the '74 FA Cup 3rd round?
I've lived abroad for years and don't know many current grounds. Belle Vue best and Elland Road worst - just because...
-
Some of us can remember the 1969 game, some of us were there!
-
About 10,000 of us Raven. Trying to ousting the Kop with You'll Never Walk Alone.
Another false dawn but a great day. We were a tad unlucky that day.
One highlight was Pancho Regan leaving ''The Anfield Iron'' Tommy Smith in a heap on the floor.
There was even a young Man U. fan that sneaked in stood with us getting his scarf out from under his jumper.
-
Worst ground for legroom has to be Wolves
-
Newcastle was OK if you went with a pair of binoculars
-
Worst ground for legroom has to be Wolves
You've not sat in the Kop end at Liverpool then?
-
I have, so tight it forces people to stand which is one of the reasons I like it.

... and notably the thinnest goal posts I have ever seen, A Dave Penny "thunderbolt" would have seriously dented them
The old Spotland was really memorable with the floodlights mounted on thick Telegraph Poles but The Shay mentioned several times already was challenging and with its Speedway Track it that meant the corners of the Pitch when Football was on were stood on huge Pallets with Turk on top of them. So if you were taking a corner kick as a Player you would be taking you (short) run up on a Pallet
When Speedway was the sport the Forklifts simply lifted out the Pallets leaving it free for what was at most times a very good Team Halifax Dukes. I managed to find "proof" of this a few years back as my memory was "doubted" but I know some of those on here will remember this as fact !

Cant find the Photos again !

Wasn't the Shay Given a facelift a few years back?
-
Ho ho ... I see I don't need to get you a new joke book for Christmas just yet !
-
Worst ground for legroom has to be Wolves
Luton is a contender.
-
QPR is worst for legroom
-
Lets be honest I bet Belle Vue comes up as worst ground visited for a lot of fans of other clubs. I mean the facilities for home fans weren't great but at least the majority was under cover.
