Title: Whole Game Solution - your survey results
Post by: silent majority on November 18, 2016, 02:22:07 pm
Forum users may remember that the FSF ran a survey to capture the views of supporters prior to our meeting with the EFL. At the time though we had the privilege of capturing Viking Chat users thoughts on the issue. Although it may no longer be needed I thought you may wish to see what you all thought. See attached.

Thanks SM. Are we typical of supporters more generally?

Absolutely. The proportion of opinion, either for or against, reflected the country as a whole. We gave our figures to the EFL earlier this month and they weren't particularly surprised either.

The only change we seem to want is the Checkatrade trophy to include Conference teams in it over U23. I'm for that.

I'd be interested to know if there was a difference in the response to Q12) "What are your views on midweek fixtures?" as you go up the leagues. Just thinking that clubs with more games moved around for TV might have a bigger issue with it than those of us Sky doesn't care about in the lower echelons.

Being slightly devious I wonder if the FL latched on to the FA's position about moving Cup match days as a way to get themselves off a nasty hook? The FL certainly made an inordinately loud fuss and they certainly went out of their way to blame somebody other than themselves. Just wondering like....? It's a well known tactic after all.

I think you're probably right Bob. The clubs were probably not going to vote WGS through but it would have exposed big divisions between the Championship clubs and the rest.

We met with the EFL earlier this month. I can assure you that Shaun Harvey was as keen then as he's always been and defended his plans to the hilt. There were no signs at all that he'd relaxed his stance.
