Title: No match tonight..
Post by: IDM on November 22, 2016, 02:07:48 pm
With our game at Stevenage rearranged, is anyone else off to a different game tonight?

I have several work colleagues who follow Peterborough (local to me) and they have a big match tonight against leaders Scunthorpe.  Plus they have a ST holder offer to bring "friends" in for a tenner, so I am off to this one.

I get to 2 or 3 games as a neutral each season and the non-partisan spectating is odd, and the difference between that and watching the Rovers is vast.

Anyone else?

When I first did the 92 back in 1984, I had all the programmes so easy to find the dates.

those scores will do nicely could have done with akinde and that Grimsby bloke not scoring

Mansfield scored a last minute winner so they will be stoked up to do Carlisle on Saturday away expect them to win as they are not a bad team

as I said yesterday I've got a feeling wet pitches might have played against Plymouth - Plymouth were all over Barnet in the first half but couldn't score

Akinde not scoring? Why? He did us a favour tonight, his goal helped Barnet beat Plymouth!

Collingham. That brings back a few memories!

Ground share with Newark Town I believe.

Carlisle what a lucky lot first goal was a k beeper blunder second was a midfielder blunder against the run of play but it was a real good game

I've never seen/been to Newark Town (from memory), but the YTs at Mansfield competed in a league against them a couple of years ago...

We went there on a freezing cold night in the middle of January with a 'keeper who wasn't the best (to put it lightly) and ended up getting clobbered 5-2 or 5-3. The parents got into a massive argument with each other and needed splitting up, then because it was snowing/freezing, it took about two hours to get home.

Not sure if you meant the Mansfield parents, Rigo, but Newark Town's youth set-up has always been a bit prone to that.  I coach grassroots in Newark and, on and off, from U8s to U15s where my team are now, we've seen their parents arguing and fighting, if not with the opposition, then with the ref and, if all else fails, with each other!

The senior team are doing alright, though, and they signed Julian Joachim in the summer!

Newark seniors do play at Collingham's ground. Collingham themselves have a decent set-up and they've always been a friendly bunch whenever I've been there

To be fair, that one has nothing on the two away games at Handsworth Paranoid though!

What's the issue with Parramore?

I thought "Paramour" may have brought BST out.. He'd get the Cocteau Twins reference...

that track was one of the two I used to listen to last before going "out out" in the mid-late 80s, the other being "mindless violence" by the newtown neurotics.  Couldn't be more different!

"Head over Heels" by The Cocteau Twins, which features "My Love Paramour" is one album I never tire of listening to.
