Title: Plymouth Fans Views
Post by: karldew on December 03, 2016, 08:17:28 pm
On a league 2 Facebook group and a few Plymouth fans are not confident about next week;

"The way we've been playing recently you'll have a happy coach trip home, play like we have recently and you'll walk it 3-0"

"You will win 4-0 next week"

"Don't worry you've got an easy 3 points the way we're playing"

"Your gonna stuff us next week , our fans will be on our players backs after the first error and it will be all downhill from there ."

Looks like the bubble may well have burst!. Hoping it's as easy as they're saying it's going to be! A nice journey home would be a bonus after all.

Beat them next week and there will a nice little gap opening up between us and them.

I'd take a draw if offered.

I wouldn't get too excited about it being easy.
The second half today should have been a stroll but look how that turned out.

Footy doesn't tend to work like this. Next week will be tough.

It will be a real tough battle they will try to restrict us going forward and target our lack of pace at the back. That is the perfect game to go into with an extra holding midfielder.

We're only allowed eleven on the pitch Sammy.

Unless anyone has picked up an injury i can see it being an unchanged starting eleven.

I don't see him changing it either. I love the attacking way of playing maybe as the back four get's more used to each other it will tighten up anyway.

That didn't happen when he managed Peterborough.

Heart says 3 points.
Head says happy with a point.

We seem to score for fun at the moment, but still have defensive lapses - and Plymouth will be looking to stop their poor run.

Of course, I want us to win, but my head says draw.  Despite the goals in our games to date, this could potentially be our first 0-0 of the season, but I hope not!

I would take a clean sheet now, whether 0-0 or otherwise. We just have to start knuckling down and sorting this bad habit of conceding sloppy goals. Concentrate lads. It isn't as easy as you think.

we are hitting Plymouth at a good time, they are searching for form 0-0 with Newport at the week-end, with a bit of luck another 3 pts.

Truth is, it doesn't really matter who we play, the result is pretty much a lottery with the odds a little in our favour because of the strength of our forward play.

I've said it before, we will occasionally take a hiding because we ALWAYS give teams chances, but at this level most times they don't get taken.  Sometimes though, as with Blackpool, they do take them and we get heavily beaten.  It will probably happen again this season and perhaps more than once.  We just have to be philosophical about it and enjoy the good that comes with it.
If we keep clear of injuries we'll remain around the top of the table.

I did a quick check the other day of the most points gained in League 2 to finish 3rd.  I looked all the way back to 1998 and the highest 3rd place points total was 85.

This means realistically if we get another 48 points, that is going to give us 87 which would be enough.

Say we win 15, draw 3, that's only 18 games meaning in that scenario we could "afford" to lose another 9 league games over the rest of the season.  Even if we won 14 and drew 6, to get those 48 points, we could still lose 7..

So when we ;lose the next game or two, it isn't going to be the end of the world.  But hopefully not on Saturday!!

Well I think that FA cup draw might have helped us a little bit? Winner of Plymouth v Newport play Liverpool at Anfield. They play the replay on the Tuesday after our game on Saturday.
