For me Williams, very hard on Liam but you play your best players. Gives the kid a rest and could be a real impact player from the bench. Tough call for Dazzler mind.
-
It doesn't have to be either/or. But I think Mandeville will start v Plymouth. He hasn't done anything wrong. It's up to Williams to dislodge him by scoring or creating when he gets the chance.
-
Tommy rot! You don't change a winning side. Mandeville's scoring freely. Drop him and he'll think Christ, I'm really valued aren't I? Williams will be the impact player until results or form say otherwise.
-
If you play and play well you should keep your place
-
I'm sure Fergie said Williams (and Middleton) is playing Tuesday? If so can see Mandeville starting Saturday.
How can you drop Liam?, he's been as good as anyone else and has also been scoring, like you say you play your best players and at the minute Mandeville is one of those!
It's nice to have a hard selection and possibly less pressure on Fergie to buying a striker in January.
-
If Mandie keeps his scoring up he will be attracting bigger teams than us, probably in January.
Any striker his age scoring in six games on the bounce would be touted for U21s with a bigger club, having said that, too many sign for other clubs and go backwards, instead of playing regulally and gaining experience before moving and being ready to play at a higher level.
I hope he is treated as a first team player now,and not a youngster who is seen as a fill in for senior players when injured. He has shown enough to warrant a starting place, and it is up to him and the other strikers to fight it out for a starting place.
Good club management, and a patient good agent who does not see him as a money tree are his main requirements now.Plus keeping his own feet on the ground, working hard, and listening to good advice, and ignoring people after a fast buck.
He could be a fantastic player, with the world in front of him,but still has a long way to go and luck plays a big part in a sportsmans career.
I hope his goal scoring continues, and if it does he will come under the spotlight soon enough.
-
He's only got to look at his friends the McKay twins and Billy Whitehouse, kicking their heels in Leeds u-23s. He could be playing in a promotion winning side.
Should be looking at a contract extension though.
-
Wouldn't change a winning side, therefore Mandy starts and Willo as sub.

Spot on..

Can't drop Mandeville, at least not for saturdays game. At his age to go on a scoring streak like he has done he deserves huge credit. When Williams got injured many were wondering who would fill the void he would leave. He has more than answered the doubters and proved his ability.
Keep his confidence up while he is achieving and he will blossom. Fergie knows how to manage young achievers as well, so while he has the momentum he should be allowed to run with it.

how can tou argue with 6 in 6, and it would demoralise the young lad

Selby he ant scored in six on the trot he got 2 in one game

There's nothing to think about Mandeville has earned the shirt. Williams has to use the cup game to put pressure on to try and regain it. Ferguson has said many times it makes no difference to him who plays, he will pick the team on form.
-
It's a great place to be though. Bit of depth, competition etc.
-
Apart from owt else, if Mande was dropped, who'd take the bloody penalties?
-
Why change a winning side? Mandeville is scoring for fun, so why drop him?

Mande's obviously trusted as our best striker when it comes to a one on one situation with the goalkeeper, despite his inexperience.
-
we need Mandeville to take the pens, stays in team for me.
-
BB you're right. Says something about our seasoned pro's not being confident from 12 yards and the young 'un makes it look relatively easy. I hope he's been coaching for tomorrow night should we need a shoot out!
-
Vicar,ANT! I thought they taught proper English at Kirkby Avenue.
-
Mandy, done nothing wrong to be dropped. Rest Tuesday, play Saturday.
-
You have to have both. You can't make a decision. :scarf:
