Title: Training ground and CD 5yr plan
Post by: godlike1 on January 18, 2017, 08:26:21 pm
They've been mentioned a couple of times in the press lately along with a new shirt sponsor next season.

Anyone have any info on any of this ?

Wasn't Rovers plan to reach the Championship and the rugby team to reach a certain league too?. Not sure about the training ground though.

I've heard there's going to be a big indoor training facility for the academy set up on Cantley Park. Don't know how true it is though.

They have given everyone a clue who the new sponsor is with spam emails. It's a massive company.

I thought the training ground was going to be sold off for housing and there was going to be a massive hotel & casino complex at the Keepmoat.

Surely that's the only reason the KM2 are interested in DRFC ;-)

shame the massive company only answers complaints with an email and reference saying we will be in touch in due course and then just don't bother, well to them   I won't go away  :)

I hope they do find the money to revamp Cantley Park as overall it isn't exactly "state of the art".

Cantley Park has seen alot of improvements particularly the playing surfaces. The clubhouse is a bit of a mishmash with various extensions however.

If true then we should be excited about the long term future.

Does that mean a certain airline is moving into the airport? Muted long ago but died a death with the fuel crisis.

Agreed. I think the rumour about coming to Donny airport was when he was in dispute with BA, or was it BAA, years ago about access rights and he threatened to up sticks and take his business elsewhere. Don't think it was ever a goer

They (Flybe) tied in with the blades won't be them if its the other then wow whoever worked that deal has some major pull. If they also come to Dsa that would be amazing but don't think it would happen as they wanted to buy the airport before it was an airport as a base and maintenance centre for themselves but it never come through

Virgin Trains currently sponsor the training and subs kit so it's probably them.

The indoor training center would to be to get us to category 2 in EPPP, as it's one of the requirements.

Not strictly true, Media is just a licensed brand and owned by someone else.

Virgin Trains' interest I can understand, since they took over the East Coast Main Line and we are of course one of the main calling points on that very busy route.

This the East Coast mainline that was performing far better under public ownership? Brain 'I'm not homophobic I just want to protect traditional christian marriage' Souter can lick my arse crack really. And that other shaggy-haired tax-dodger as well.

It's definely more expensive since they took over. There are less lower price seats and that's a fact.

Would the current training ground even have enough space for a covered pitch in its current format?

Our train down for Barnet last Saturday was half empty, maybe all these extra services they've put on and the increased prices aren't compatible.

The indoor bit is going to be on the right hand side of the road that leads down to the current training ground.

Interesting really, I would say training ground development is huge for us. Our usp surely should look to be creating a good academy with strong first team progression?
