Title: Wyke
Post by: GazLaz on January 31, 2017, 03:25:41 pm
Leaving Carlisle and joining Bradford. That's one of the teams around us substantially weakened.

Anyone else form any of the top clubs in our division moved on?

Yes he is..quite surprised he's done that...Rotherham are doomed back to league 1 and Plymouth look like they are going up...So strange one for me...

Wigan have bid £750,000 for Bogle.

Portsmouth look set to sign Eoin Doyle, which would be an excellent signing for this league.

Carlisle are going to struggle to finish in the top 3 now.
Wyke has been their main scorer and they have no replacement in.
They have 6 hrs 20 mins left to save their season I fear.

How much is Marquis worth now and we paid peanuts for him as far as I am aware.
Anyway he is going no where, I am convinced he will stay and help us in a promotion bid next season.
Unless of course a championship club comes in for him and offers silly money £1.000.000 or more and the player huge wages.
Everyone has a price.

If Portsmouth finish above us now we've failed massively.  Weird how he went from next big thing to flop.

Did he have one good half season with Chesterfield?

Pompey fan here. Tentatively excited about Doyle. Cook's been after him since he got here, and we've struggled for a good striker. He did have one amazing half season at League 1, but I'd be more than happy with a goal every other game right now. It's Cook's last role of the dice - if it pays off, we go up. If not, he's likely to go in the Summer. Regardless, I don't think we have any chance of catching you.

Luton have lost their first choice keeper after he was recalled to Brighton (on the day of a game, no less) so that may impact their promotion push. Other big news near the top is that Exeter look to have kept hold of Ollie Watkins, which could be the key to maintaining their recent form.

There's going to be a fair few twists and turns between now and the end of the season.
It's a matter of staying calm and not overreacting to either good or bad results.

Very disrespectful comment about Curtis Main.

Is it ok to over react about Plymouths result tonight?

That's two of the better strikers in this league gone to patures new. Leaves Akinde and Marquis to battle it out for top scorer?

Carlisle signed Stoke u 21 striker George Waring,

If they try to get him permanent if he does well they will pay a quarter of the fee they got for Wyke. It's good business but at the wrong time for them. If their defence was better they would be even nearer the top they are a tough compact well organised side but have a habit of letting poor goals in.

He'll have to get to 10 at this stage of the season.

Sounds like the ref in the Plymouth game was less tolerant of time wasting by the keeper than ours.
