It's a full length film so pull up the armchair and bucket of pop corn.
I will bet anyone who will watch this for the first time will not be effected afterwards .
Those that have seen it before ,watch it again to bring back that fear
we was going through during the cod war.
The fact that it's filmed in Sheffield and RAF finningley ,Doncaster gets a very important mention don't help matters, well for me it did not help me at all.

I'm in it!

You in the film fcuk me which part Glynn the RAF phampton pilot that flys over Sheffield?
Must have effected you more than most after watching it
-
Not really. I was a student at Sheffield Poly when they wee making it and the word came down to the students Union at the Poly and the Uni that they wanted extras for the scenes with protesters and were asking for volunteers. It sounded a bit of a giggle so went along.
As for being effected, not really. I'd already seen The War Game and that is much starker than Threads and not as 'dramatised' and is much scarier as a result - which is why despite having made it themselves in 1965 the Beeb refused to show it for about 20 years or so - if I remember rightly Threads was broadcast before The War Game ever was.

Well that threads film had a massive effect on me ,as still today say once or twice a year I have very
bad nightmares baised on atomic strike.
Recall one day in early may yaers ago back in Doncaster when I woke up after having a really bad nightmare on the said subject .
I woke up and was still in state of confusion when you wake up after a bad dream.i was shitting myself
as I was questioning myself was that a dream or was it true ,to which I went to my bedroom window
to take a look outside to get my bearings more than owt.
When I noticed that all over the estate outside there was this light covering of white all over the place.
Front lawns ,cars roads ,paths and trees ,my state of mind went into meltdown as for just a few seconds I honestly convinced myself that there had been a nueclear strike .
Then I came round after going outside to notice that Jack Frost had been and it tasted of Jack Frost too

Can't seem to find any full footage of that war game 1965 film that you are on about .
any ideas how I can watch it please

It's out there to download, depending on whether or not you want to visit certain sites.

I remember Sheffield City Council publishing a leaflet in the later 70's I should think that went into quite some detail about what would happen if a medium size H bomb was dropped on the centre of Sheffield. If you forget the nuclear winter, the poisoning of the water and the chaos, what I've always remembered is the stark statement that every telegraph pole in Doncaster would instantly burst into a raging fire.
I think every household in South Yorkshire got a copy. Somebody must have it still.

' every telegraph pole in Doncaster would instantly burst into a raging fire ' if a medium H bomb had been dropped in centre of Sheffield.
When you think about that line it sends your mind into a mess
should two ,three or more nukes have been dropped at whatever
near by locations ,with finningley been a sure main strike

"protect and survive" wasn't it..??

"der ler rull err R ler ulllllll"
sounds about right to me
-
I don't really know IDM - I can't picture the leaflet nowadays. But if that is a Council produced document then it probably is. Have you got a copy?
Cheers :)

I don't think i'd want to survive it.
That doomsday clock is creeping closer towards midnight, hopefully it takes another 100 years or so to get there.

After watching that threads film years back that's the assumption that I have come to IF nukes
are launched from whatever side .if I was ever to hear the 3 min warning think I spend that time looking for a good enough tree to hang me sen tbh.
