Stat Attack v Carlisle
W23 / D17 / L23
Rovers equal Carlisle in the all-time WDL record, both teams winning this fixture 23 times and drawing 17. Since the old Division 3 became League 2 Carlisle have actually edged the fixture, winning 4/7 and drawing 1; Rovers only winning 2/7.
Looking at the table today you would think Carlisle are doing pretty well, sitting 3rd in League Two and 3 points clear of 4th. However, United haven't won at Brunton Park since December 17th, losing 2 and drawing 3 of their previous 5 home fixtures. They have only won once in 2017 and shipped 13 goals, whereas Rovers have yet to lose in 2017 and have only allowed 4 goals against them.
Surprise, surprise Rovers are not featured on Radio Sheffield tonight, so you'll be best listening in to Rovers player or keeping up in the Lucky Pint below :aok:
:scarf:
-
I'll take a repeat of the 1-0 home fixture in 2008, if I remember it was a scrambled goal somewhere of Hayter's body after a corner melee in the 87th minute..
-
I'll be setting off mid afternoon to get there in good time for a bite to eat and a pint or two with my mate before the game.
-
Good morning from snow engulfed New Brunswick. We are all shoveling out after a massive snow storm yesterday. Canadian Rover will be still in the middle of it today. Hope he's ok.
-
I'm unfortunately working tonight so will have to get updates from radio 5
-
Lawyer, Blair, Alcock, Butler, Mason, Houghton, Grant, Rowe, Coppin, Williams, Marquis
Subs: Etheridge, Evina, Wright, Keegan, Middleton, May and surprise surprise McSheffery
COYR
-
Looking forward to another 3 points.....please!
-
Great to McSheffery back
-
Great to McSheffery back
What price a Sheffer's goal? Good to have him back at the crunch end of the season COYR
-
Personally would play Wright for the aerial threat from Waring and Proctor.. can't understand why we haven't in the absence of Baudry.
-
Good to have McSheffery back, adds attacking options. Baudry must have failed the pre-match medical, or DF didn't want to risk him.
-
No Baudry, how long is he out anyone?
-
Not sure about Wright being in, only Butler with height at the back.
-
Hasn't Butler hobbled down the tunnel before the ko ?
-
Butlers out wright in
-
Not the best start before KO. Butler injured.
-
It's just said on BBC that butlers just won a free kick.

According to R Player Butler came out for the warm up but went down the tunnel and hasn't started ... Wright on in place of him.

So both first eleven defenders injured for tonight and maybe Saturday let's Alcock and Wright step up

Good luck with that. They didn't register Donny v Newport at all on Friday, not even in the results round up.

Good evening everyone, just tuned in.

That might get us going now.
We have come from behind quite a few times this season.
Come on Rovers.
-
Yep. Paying for being sloppy in front of goal. They go up other end keep it simple, shoot and score!
-
Think we are going to really miss the two B's in this game.
-
We were always gonna have a blip, this is it, no sweat. Just got to ride it out..
-
We're better coming from a goal down.... COME ON YOU REDS
-
Another golden chance gone from Marquis!
-
Marquis almost levels it straight away.
-
Exeter 1up
-
ffs come on lads
-
There is still goals in this side.. We were 0-1 down vs Carlisle at the KM and got back to 2-1 and had the penalty chance to win the game..
-
Not good this
-
Plenty of time for us to get back Copps.
-
Not good this
What now...?
-
Not good this
What now...?
Maybe he means the scores at the moment, involving all our rivals??
-
Carlisle sound comfortable, all teams in top 6 winning. Resurgent Luton who'll bring 2k.
Only Donny, only Donny.
-
A goal before HT will change everything, need to put chances away.
-
Fergie better give them a bollocking at half time
-
Plymouth 1-1
-
Accrington now 3:1 against Mansfield
-
Heads have dropped
-
Accrington now 3:1 against Mansfield
3-2
-
Thing is, we're creating chances but we've snatched at them instead of being ruthless.
Sounds like we're also fannying about old style on the edge of the box trying to find the perfect ball, instead of playing the early ball before defenders get set.
Big talking to required at half time! Believe!
-
Half time..
Most of the games tonight are top half vs bottom half, so you would expect most of the top half sides to win..
It would be much more comfortable had we got the result our performance deserved vs Morecambe..
But we are still top of the league :)
-
Maybe some personnel changes are needed?
-
Alfie Beestin came onto the bench when Butler was ruled out with injury #cufc 1 #drfc 0
COYR
-
Blip?
Confidence low?
Nowt to worry about?
U decide !
-
There's players in this league now playing for the lives, their careers, their families and rovers are still trying to play pissy passy football. We're trying to Out Barcelona Newport on a plot of sand and pass round a Carlisle who haven't won in 6 football light years.
Take the clean shaven lads off the pitch get a few on with hairy b*llocks and lets play some league two football. We need a few more wins and we're over the line. WTF is Fergie playing at.
-
No Baudry, how long is he out anyone?
What injury does he have?
COYR
-
I wouldn't change it just yet. Give the players out there a chance to put it right after geeing them up.
No good being shrinking violets in any game, especially when 1-0 down. Go for it!
-
Blip?
Confidence low?
Nowt to worry about?
U decide !
4th option, the game isn't over yet..
-
They have not really troubled us and scored with their one & only chance. We just need to take our chances & we should get something out of this. Otherwise a long miserable journey back for me & the boy!!
-
Come on Boys...
-
I think we're gonna go up but imagine if we didn't? Would honestly be even more painful than last season.

3rd option..
We are top of league after 2/3rds of season, unbeaten in 2017,we are losing 1-0 at half time away to 3rd from top on a tuesday night. No need to moan, nevermind panic. We will still win this. :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

That save will turn the game for rovers
PSG 2 Barca 0 and Barca playing like shite

Carlisle player kicks out at Copps and no card for their player.

Matty Blair head butted and yet their man gets a yellow- aggravation from both sides but their man was out of order. Poor ref #drfc.
COYR

@liamhoden
54 FK to Rovers. Coppinger fouled on right. About 25 yards from byline. Melee ensues
Finally a bit of hairy bollock stuff from rovers, this is the turning point.

Plymouth winning again

Marquis one on one, keeper saves.

Copps have you lost your marbles?
-
Copps what you on
-
I do think DF needs to make some changes, McSheffrey for Copps, May for Williams.
-
Has someone hacked his account?
-
Need to freshen it up up front. Alfie May to be let off the leish. Get busy instead of Williams.
-
Get McSheffrey on ffs.
-
Think there's as many senses of humour missing here tonight as there are chances by Big John up in Carlisle.
-
May coming on

@liam Hoden
Alfie May looks to be coming on #cufc 1 #drfc 0
COYR
-
Copps fouled in the box, legitimate pen shout.
-
ALFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! :scarf:
-
I've a bad feeling that tonight may not be our night, if so, can we just have a bit of perspective. We are unbeaten since the start of November, these runs absolutely must come to an end. We will go again satdi. Rtid.
-
ALFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! :scarf:
???
-
We are not going to go unbeaten to the end of the season, and neither are Plymouth.
-
PSG 4 Barca 0
Com' ed Doncaster ffs as they say in lpool
-
Bring on McSheffrey too, give him enough time to make a difference.
-
Still time - keep the faith.....
-
Phew, nearly two down there.
-
Was worried about this think we need to step up
-
We dont seem to be getting many decisions from the officials.
Lawlor booked now.

So much for my prediction of being unbeaten for another 4 games. Gutted.
-
Nooooo!
-
Ah well. The run had to end at some point.
-
Dubious offside decision ...
-
Commentators said Ibhere was probably offside leading to their second goal.
-
May to get one back!
-
We've been pretty toothless up front by the sound of it.
-
Game over will the slide begin or can we stop it on sat
-
Its a big game against Luton now isn't it.
edit: actually load of bolloxs, Fergie needs sacking though before its too late. Two catastrophic drops in two seasons, surely not?
-
Dubious offside decision ...
Who says?
-
Cant see why a slide should begin.
We lost a game in November and look what happened after that.
-
Its a big game against Luton now isn't it.
ON current form (last five games) its touch and go for promotion. Something needs to change.
I think the Accrington game is bigger in reality :cold:
-
Not too worry chaps as Luton will get a good dicking on Saturday
I hope
-
Dubious offside decision ...

I have faith in Fergie to put it right for the next game, his words seem to mean more than Dickov repetitive diarrhea.
-
Confident we will beat Luton at home.

last 5 games = 8 points.. same rate for next 15= 24 points. finish on 87 - that will be plenty for promotion..
-
See my edit, Fergie is the man responsible for the last 3 results therefore he should go.
-
Sorry yet again Fergie's 3 at the back blind spot exposed. Without Baudry pointless and stupid.
-
See my edit, Fergie is the man responsible for the last 3 results therefore he should go.
He's also responsible for the previous 28 and we still have just over 2 points per game..

Very nearly 2-2 from Alfie ...

WTF has happened to CiM?

Alfie May or Rowe scored.
Nearly 2-2 as well.

Wish this was Halifax Town away again........

Come on boys, we can do this

Very nearly 2-2 from Alfie ...
Beestin or May?

We're not dead yet!

No, and neither does a spell of 3 disappointing results end our season..
-
We seemed jaded for most of that.

If Plymouth ends 2-2 it feels like 2 points gained. :scarf:

Exeter drawing
Really
-
Get in there orient
-
ooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnntttttttt tttttttttttt
-
Looking at the stats in the Plymouth game, Orient have had 15 shots to their 14.
-
Failed the test set before them tonight. Big players not delivered when we needed them. Marquis should have converted at least one of his chances.
Rowe, Williams, Marquis, Grant, Coppinger not done enough to impose themselves on the game. Too much hesitation, too much passing the buck.
Get things in perspective though. We've got plenty in the tank so no need for panic.
-
3:2 leyton

Get in there orient

Plymouth losing

Gotta love Orient.

FFS, Orient 3-2 up.

16 and 10 on target..
Perhaps tonight isn't the end of the world, eh CiM??
-
Not such a bad result after all with orient winning
COYR
-
As you were then pretty much. Carlisle made up some ground but top two both lost...
-
If Plymouth get beat tonight DRFC are one dam god set of lucky fcukers
-
I'm off on to the Plymouth forum for a gander 😀
-
If that result at Plymouth doesn't give our players a boost, nothing will..
Bad result but we are still 11 points clear of 4th..
My philosophy is always to take one game at a time.. even if we don't get a good result on Saturday it isn't the end of our season..
-
Like i said earlier, all of the teams are going to lose some games.
Top three have all lost in the last four days.
-
We have got out of jail tonight with Plymouth losing, got to get back to winning ways on satdi
-
If Plymouth get beat tonight DRFC are one dam god set of lucky fcukers
You could say that if Donny get beat tonight then Plymouth are lucky too.
-
Hear hear Hound!
And losing on Saturday next won't make a lot of difference by itself either. We all want to win it, but losing it doesn't stop anything at the season end.

RP commentators.
Well that's all right then. Must be offside. Me? I'll take the ref's decision.
-
Taking of chances have dried up Andy Williams for all his hard work is not scoring. So with no Mandeville and Marquis on a temporary drought we need to find the cutting edge again.

I would start with Marquis and May on Sat. leave Williams on the bench.

To state the obvious, no they don't get all the decisions correct......only the overwhelming majority. No doubt the commentators will have reviewed the incident half a dozen times, before announcing: "We believe the ref . might have made the wrong decision but we can't be 100% certain."
-
Yeah I think Willo should have a break. He hasn't had a good record for a few months now. With these last few games I think it is time to give someone else a whirl and let the lads know they still have a lot to prove.

As the ball was played to Ibhere they called him offside straight away.
Maybe you didnt get get your guess right either.

The point is they (the commentators) were giving an opinion; so we're the officials but they were also giving a decision. I know who' s opinion I would support.
-
Do you think the first Sanchez goal against Hull should have been allowed?
-
What about the handball for the penalty vs morecambe, or that kick at Marquis in the same game?
-
Ellison had time to move or duck rather than stick his arms out into the path of the ball.
-
So, no response from Wiltshire Exile so i guess he would support the refs opinion on the above even though the refs were clearly wrong with the decisions.
