A pub a couple of miles from us puts bread and dripping plus black pudding on the bar every Sunday afternoon.
It's gorgeous as well as free.😛
Great cask beer as well.

It's warm and straight out of the oven just to make your mouth water even more.
A lot of small local pubs in Bradford used to put free food on on a Friday tea time. I suppose it was to stop you going home because you were hungry after work.
Nowadays you wonder what is disappearing the fastest, pubs or workers.

Normally when a person or persons leave a pub to have a sit down meal or take away nose bag they will never return back to the previous pub during that session, hence why some pubs as you pointed out placed free bar food on the bar during peak times to try and keep serious drinkers in longer.

It's true to say that a pub chain manager would not have the gumption to lay out free food on the bar,but a landlord who owns his pub is far more street wise .

Best pub I have been in for the free bar food was the castle pub just outside Wakefield train station about 25 years ago. This was serious food that was been put out as in bacon sarnies ,sausages ,chicken wings along with the normall black pudding cheeses onion and ham sarnies .

I bet my last $ that there are far more pubs in Bradford that place out free bar food than the number of pubs in the Doncaster area for whatever reasons.

I don't get out as much but I know one that still does Friday and one that used to/might but it's the other side of Bradford so I don't get over there these days.

Oslo,  I know what you mean I am Wakefield born and raised. But DRFC to the heart. Going to treat Mrs BR to the culinary delight that's the Donner Kebab. We have just had a place open out here. Not sure as she is Filipino how will it go down, but hey ho i will enjoy.
