After a few pints following the Grimsby demolition I've now decided it'd be a good idea to cycle to Hartlepool for the last match.
I'm hoping to raise money for Children with Cancer.
I'll do it in full Rovers kit, which will not entirely match by year, but the thought is there.

Might be worth getting in touch with the club for this? a few guys did this to Brentford a few years ago and the club helped them out with promoting it etc.
-
Rough plan in place now.
Looks like it's around 105/110 miles from Keepmoat to the Victoria.
Set off at 08:00 get there for 15:00, shower and change then a couple of pints.
-
I could join you when you get near Boro :P

I would love to do it again with you Andy but (fortunately!) we will be at the other end of the country that weekend.
From the Brentford ride, two points that will make the ride easier are:
have a good support vehicle - Ponty Ricky's dad did a great job for us, carrying supplies, having somewhere to put the bikes at the end of the ride but particuarly direction finding/preparing the route.
co-ordinate with Hartlepool as to what will happen when you get there. Brentford wouldn't let us use their showers as they were quite naturally preparing for a big football match (and we were there 4 hours before ko) - but they did send us in the direction of a local school who had youth matches that morning to use their showers
Charles Swallow was the guy at Rovers we co-ordinated with - he was a great help.
Have a great ride - I'm quite jealous
-
What ever happened to Ricky? haven't seen him posting for yonks now. Nice bloke.
-
Sorry missed these replies.
Fine tuned the route, and it's now "only" 101 miles.
BJW - Be sure to join us at Boro, route takes through the town.
D'Hound - No lights needed, staying over and the missus is driving me home after a night of celebrating the end of a succesful season.
WR - Shame you can't make it. I've got a decent Garmin which will have the route loaded, I'm fine with supplies, don't usually consume too much and I'll have a few quid stashed for any needs en route.
Showers sorted as I'm booked in Prem Inn not too far from the ground, where my bike will go too.
The club have shown some interest in this and have been in contact this week, Hartlepool are also aware, so social media will be involved. Pool's have also offered showering facilities so that makes them better than Brentford.
Thanks for the tips.
Really hoping it turns out to be worth it from the Charity angle.

retford rover
-
I'll donate a tenner as well ,but I'll do it person as I'm not that clued up on these " giving/ donation sites," think it's down to my education or lack of it .
-
FYI the garmin link doesn't work Andy
-
instead of Garmin try the strava link
https://www.strava.com/routes/8124845

Thanks to those who've donated, or are going to.
Paul, Northern Confusion is the team name - we're all in it together, trying for around £500 a man to get £5,000 total.
So it's all going to end up in same pot  :scarf:

Should be some nice climbing on the Moors but through the centre of York on a Sunday morning - are you sure?
-
Through York seems a better option than the A19/ A64..
Draytonian I've added your tenner, thanks mate. Are you still using the Markham Moor Inn ?
