Been back to pubcaster with me two lads from April 10th and flew back today.
Lilttle plough pub > that gets 5 out of 5 from me and me oldest though it was cool due to it been olde.
Ashworth barracks museum > went here on the 11th and it's a great place and a must place to visit that's on all your doorsteps.not expensive at all and they let your kids hold a real gun,as they are taught all sorts of things.
Took well over an hour to get round and worth it. 5 out of 5
Custworth hall > went here on the 12th for the egg rolling day and could not get me two lads off the hill .did not get chance to go inside custworth hall for a look round but we will return for sure.its free to get in aswel. I give this 4 out of 5
Yorkshire wild life park > 13th April two kids and me fcuking £45 ,what do they feed the animals on caviar ? We entered at 14:30 as was told that it gets too busy early doors.
It was quite busy when we went in but by 16:00 there was enough room to swing an elephant round ( if they had one ).
Kids enjoyed it ,pitty that the play area was been rebuilt as that looks very good if it's not too busy.
Can't get head round the amount of people that walk around the park without stopping to look at the animals and you can hear the moans if whatever animal is having 40 winks . 3 out of 5 due to it been a tad pricey.
Potteric carr nature reserve > 14th April this place is the dogs b*llocks ,£9 for me and me two whipper snappers and it was fantastic .must have spent best part of 3hours here and only saw 5 people out on the walks.did not see one fat bas**rd pushing a shitty buggy with a iffy wheel.
Should have gone the day before as they held pond dipping for the kids.
Will return to this place on a pond dipping day for sure and spend much longer here.
The cafe is top knotch aswell .you be a fool not to visit this nature reserve. 10 out of 5 it was that good.
April 14th Friday night > went to the flicks down back of old bell vue.what a pile of shite.£46 for me and two kids 3 bottles of pop and two pick and mix .that cost more than going to the kino ( pictures) in oslo.and the seats we was sat in were shit was told that I should have gone for upgrade seats > fcuk when you splash out £ 46 I expect to meet the cast afterwards albeit it was the smurfs .
Will never go to this shit hole again. Give this a minus -5
Witbys fish and chip restaurant > 15th April ,had a sit down nose bag party with 32 family and friends and not one single complaint.infact the only complaints I heard was that they gave you far too much chips .i paid for four adults and two kids who had ice cream afterwards £51
which was bang on. 5 out of 5.
Conisboro castle & 106 steps > 16th April > no complaints here ,very reasonable price for me and me lads and they loved it at the castle .
There was a sit down craft and learn event been held by staff which was good.
106 steps > I was fcuked but kids loved it and don't anyone belive that b*llocks about there been a tunnel from top of 106 steps to conisboro castle as it's a myth > 4.5 out of 5 as the steps nearly finished me.
Doncaster rovers v blackpool > 17th ,the standard of football gets a 2 out of 5 at a push .donny dog gets a full house as she was great ,my youngest keeps on talking about the high fives they had.
Black bank was very good > kids bounced along with the noise they was making .
Bell vue bar was very good ,and the old lady rovers fan who was just passing by spent time talking to me lads which they loved.
If there is any places of interst in donny that I have not mentioned don't be shy
-
Doncaster Market place, whelks and cockles off Nigel's stall a walk round the busy stalls, sciclunsa deli to marvel at the 6,000 products on offer, over to the masons for a pint of Timothy Taylor's land lord marvel at the small piece of the Roman wall in the Beer garden, walk over to the Chippies my favourite being Rothwells, for F&c indoors, or over tô the re furnished Red lion to people watch, day complete.

Tommy if you go regularly it might be cheaper to join the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
They run it and I have a family membership ticket which gives free access for me, the wife and two grandkids. Plus you get their adult and kid's mags each quarter.
You get access to all their other sites as well.
-
Thanks idler. Will look at that. Recently been going with Doncastrians Walking club on arranged visits through the Council. These end soon so will be worth looking at joining then.
-
Look at their website.www.ywt.org.uk
I can't remember how much I pay. It's either direct debit twice or four times a year. About £16 - £18 a year I think.
They have sites all over Yorkshire that you can go to.
-
Thanks I will. Me and the bride do loads of walking. Enjoy it and it keeps the grim reaper at bay for a bit. Will have a look and let you know.

.... and not far from Boston Park is Tia Greyhound Rescue where you can walk retired / homeless / mistreated Greyhounds in the mornings. Walk as many as you like as they dont need to go that far
There are also Shire Horses Goats Donkeys Chickens to pet and feed.
Cafe serves a wide variety of Food and has free Wifi - kids Play areas and a Charity Shop plus a section selling everything you need for your dog from Coats to Food
All free - just Google and enjoy !

Thanks for the Boston park addvice ,will have a look next time Iam across with kids.
Are adders friendly snakes or iffy snakes
I can't praise that potteric Carr reserve place enough
-
Adders are Britains only poisonous snake so I eouldnt mess about with them but they are usually very shy and keep away from humans
-
That's near enough what certian dog owners say about certian dog types.
Went to a local pub during the day last week in donny.there was this bloke stood at the enterance with his two young kids and his pet dog i tied up on a leash right in the path of the doors to the pub.
Fcuk knows what type of dog it was ,about height of a small coffee table short wonky looking legs and a face like a kicked in snap tin and built like a small outdoor shit house.
I held back with the kids and silly b*llocks pipes up " it's ok she won't bite look I have my kids here"
Gave it a wide birth and turned round and went to greggs
-
'Face like a kicked in snap tin'
Made me laugh that. Will have to remember it
-
Adders are Britains only poisonous snake so I eouldnt mess about with them but they are usually very shy and keep away from humans
Usually avoid humans - feel the vibration of of one approaching - but being reptiles they come out and bask in the sun to warm their blood up
Sometimes they are still in a bit of a daze / tired / stunned and so dont shoot off and they are then a danger to Humans / Human kids / other non Human kids / Pets esp Dogs of course
-
It's my kids I don't trust if they saw one when out of my sight .
Curosity killed the cat > as the saying and band went >

I'll put in another recommendation for joining Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. I got a family membership for me, Mrs. F. & the boy. Can't remember how much it cost but not a lot. Renews automatically on direct debit each year and we can nip into Potteric Carr whenever we like which is usually four or five times a year. As other shave said, you get access to all the other reserves to e.g. Spurn Point (not done it yet but intend to next half term when I've booked a couple of days off.

Idler

I had a close look at that hound walking thing ,and I get the impression that they have it on a certian day or days .

Yes
Any day and think the walking hours are 9 till 12.30 but better info on Facebook Page
https://www.facebook.com/TiaGreyhoundAndLurcherRescue/?hc_ref=PAGES_TIMELINE&fref=nf
The Cafe opens at 8 or 8.30 so you can get Breakfast or Coffee or anything like that before walking the dogs or after walking them. (Even between Dogs if you like)
We usually do 3 dogs each which takes just over an hour - because despite their reputation - Greyhounds are real couch potatoes and only need 20 minutes walk and I usually go round the well walked path in the Orchard twice per dog
Downside is you have to pick up the "poop" but they give you bags if you ask. They tell you the name of each Dog and if there are 2 of you you get a pair of Kennel mates. The dogs really love it and it does them a real favour getting them out and about.
Afterwards there are loos of course and you can wash your hands and repair to the Cafe which has an extensive Menu - free WiFi - a Shop selling all sorts of Dog Coats , Food , Leads and other stuff and a Charity Shop which welcomes donations and of course loves to sell you stuff
Many other Animals are about including Shire Horses Goats Donkeys Sheep Chickens Turkeys etc. Its 30p for food for the Chickens and you can then buy their eggs pretty cheap - and also eat them in the Cafe !
They just had a Spring Fair with Donny Dog attending - the day after we got Promo - and that was well attended. I recommend anyone giving it a go any day - its free - and if they don't like it they have not lost much really just the petrol to Finno !
Directions - go to Blue Bell at Blaxton and head towards Westwoodside - taking first left towards Wroot and it is half a mile on right !
Also - maybe worth a mention ... every First Sunday in a Month there is a special walk (longer) somewhere in the area. You can simply turn up wherever it is and they bring loads of Greyhounds to the venue and you can walk one (each) through whatever venue they have chosen. I have been twice. After the walk they have Sausage Bobbing for the Dogs where you pay £1 and your dog bobs for a Sausage in a small paddling pool
I will post a photo if I have one and look where net Months walk is just in case !

NOF see above - and have a look at Tripadvisor too
-
Photo as promised - they certainly get stuck in !
-
Next time Iam across I will keep an eye on this place ,thanks for pointing it out.
-
No problem - worth a couple of hours and great if people have ankle biters / rug rats that might be hankering after a Dog.
This gives them chance to get close to them and see the pitfalls for nowt ! If they do like the thought of a Greyhound even a particular one they (and other breeds) may be adopted directly
-
I often pop in for a brekkie or cake on my way home from a long flat ride out Lincolnshire way. The 8 miles left to ride home is just about manageable with a belly full :)
As Wolfie says the foods good and the cakes are rather large.
Staff are friendly and they don't even mind you bringing your cycle inside. All in all a nice place

Agree. TIA is ace !
The little Plough too. I always meet my old man in there for a few when I'm in town.

Not so much for yourself but if your wanting to let the kids run off some steam then Astrobound on Wheatley Hall Road is good and not to pricey to get in if i remember rightly.. Although take your own food in a bag as food is a rip off.
Boston Park is good too as said above, few hundred yards past Moorland prison on the main drag between Bawtry and Hatfield.
