Title: Has the dust settled?
Post by: Donnyjim on April 29, 2017, 11:16:44 pm
Not for me! I am still livid by that display. Lacklustre, slow, second to everything, giving possession away...I could go on.

Moving forward we can write the title off now. We need to start building for next season. That includes almost a new back four in my opinion. Our defence today was abysmal. It has been all season. I'm not sure DF and GS have enough knowledge in this area, so we could also do with a defensive coach. Even Butler was poor today. So we need to build from the back next season and get rid of Connor Grant.

The thing that sticks in my mind today was how slow the defenders were to react when our keeper saved the penalty. Disappointed does not cut it for me. I know DF said to celebrate after promotion, but 3 weeks?

He's right Bob , 15 mins in , a needless free kick conceded , their 1st attempt at goal.
All around me knew what the outcome would be....same old.

Not in my house either......And yet again the fans played their part and the BB put on a great show for the team. And were repaid with that.

We chose probably the most important game of our season to put on a lacklustre and poor display. I really don't see Plymoiuth slipping up at Grimsby - we have sat top of this league for more than 4 months they just need to do it for 1 game - that sort of puts it in perspective!!!

We must have been unbelievably lucky for it to last 40 games

It's one of Mad Mick's monikers. Don't rise to it.

conceding 53 goals in 45 games is nothing to do with luck. It speaks for itself.

Still not here either
We also said yesterday that we couldn't believe our keeper saved the penalty and the follow up and still our defenders weren't there to help out - that said everything about our performance
Lawlor nothing much to do other than penalty
Joe Wright - I lauded him a couple of games ago saying he reminded me of Gary Cahill, well he went from Premier League to Sunday League, in fairness I thought he should have got a red for the handball
Andy Butler seemed to think his future lays in wrestling as he just wanted to grapple with Reid for most of the game
Alcock- worst game I've seen him have capped off by gifting them their third
Mason was the only defender who came out with any credit
McCullough had a decent game and was unfortunate to get booked
Grant looks lost and not interested
Blair showed how one footed he is, tried hard but was bested by their full back
Rowe showed glimpses of genius but it just didn't come off for him
Copps similar to Rowe but took his chance well
Marquis desperately needed support
Tactically we were wrong, ability wise we were atrocious, effort was lacking
Great effort from their fans, good turnout and plenty of noise

How Grant managed to stay out there beyond half time is beyond me, Coppinger must be fuming he was hauled off before Grant, and I don't buy this Copps has to manage his body at this stage of the season, theres one game left and then they have two months off, and the title is at stake. Copps should have been there at full time, McSheffrey should have come on for Grant, and again, Alfie May is not the man to bring on while the stakes are high

There has to be something wrong with the defence when seemingly every single game of late we concede from their first attempt on goal.

We have 2nd best goal difference in the league, which means it's irrelevant how many we've conceded. Cause we've scored a hell of a lot more

Love how the moaners have come out to play since yesterday. They've been a bit bored this season.

We look lost without Baudry and we have done whenever he hasnt played. Without Baudry I'm not even sure we'd have finished top 3

Up to yesterday we had only conceded 20 goals in the previous 22 games, the best in the division over the same period.
The other 30 were conceded in the first 22.
Things improved around the time that Alcock and Baudry came into the team.

(Waiting now for some knob head to post his comment)
Come on Bob...........
