Title: Mail,Telegraph,and Express
Post by: selby on June 09, 2017, 02:43:11 pm
Just a thaught, but does anyone else think that this election is the first time that social media has been more than a match for the Tory press.
The new way of  getting people to engage  has worked well for the Labour Party.
I am surprised how far the Tories have been left behind, especially when you think of the ages of the front men in the labour party, who have used the new media so well.
They have really engaged with the young voters, got them onside and out voting, good on them, newspapers are dying, and in some cases not before time.

GPWM - it's been a staggering success for social media; if it hastens the demise of suppurating pools of filth like the Mail, then it's a good day for all of us

in quite interested, though, to see the reaction over time if Brexit is ultimately pushed through, and there is no reduction in tuition fees - face it, Corbyn is not in power and cannot make good on his promises - are the young folk going to petulantly turn on him when there's no substance to the campaign bullet points that were exclusively conjured up to lure them on board ?

TBH Herman, it was always likely that it would turn out that way (IMO of course).
I have written about this on another thread but as i expected, no one commented on it.

Maybe now you have brought it up it may be discussed.

Well they can hardly turn on him for not putting into place the things he promised when he didn't win the election can they...

..............which is probably why he was confident enough to make the promises.

there's a cynical part of me that thinks that May might have been thinking along the same lines with calling the election - either shore up the majority and sail on regardless doing her own thing, or blow it and brexit might be finished (she was a remainer, don't forget) - win/win situation - hmmmm....

Seeing May's shell shocked interviews and statements since last night I don't think she sees it as a win win! Must admit there is a certain masochistic joy in seeing her struggle even as the country is in turmoil.

Herman would you like to see the demise of the mirror and independent as they are equally as bad

yup - absolutely - hence the use of the catch-all phrase "like the mail". the mirror definitely, even though it is little more than harmless celebrity drivel for the amusement of cretins who have no more political savvy than they have the ability to think for themselves, so f**king none at all  they may become dangerous - politically - if simon cowell ever runs for office

the independent, however, can do no wrong - i've been their "book of the month" author, so they can only be considered erudite, intelligent, discerning - hmmmm - culturally aware, astute, and generally more lovely than a hand-made wicker basket full of kittens - or maybe a blowjob with a mouthful of ice cubes...

the independent is not on the same level as the Mail! A horrible scrote of a paper, up there with The S*n.

The Tories fought and won the last election on reducing the size of the national debt. It has since doubled and no-one is bothered.

Time moves on and what people think is important at one election might not be so at the next.
