Spent last night in A&E with severe chest pain, thought I was having a heart attack, but it turns out all the tests for the heart and lungs were ok. So ended up with a diagnosis of Costochondritis, which is inflamation of the cartlige that attatches to the ribs, jesus it was painful, god knows what a heart attack must feel like. I hope I never find out

I used to be prone to pulling intercostal muscles, which are the ones between the ribs. The first time it happened I thought I was having a heart attack too!
I remember Eric Morecambe talking about the heart attack he had in 1968 on Parkinson, it was his first one and he described how it didn't feel like what he expected...it might be on Youtube somewhere.

To be honest I'd never heard of it before, I was convinced it was a heart attack, I'm whincing everytime I move at the moment

Sorry to hear about that Filo - it sounds really uncomfortable but no-one has said on here whether it is easily treatable ?

Well, it's an '-itis', which means inflammation so I would have thought there'd be some sort of anti-inflammatory at least, even if it's a generic rather than a specific one.

I'd have been laid there for three days now, the pain is right over my heart. It really hurts if I cough or sneeze

Having a heart attack is no fun. A tightening across the chest like having a steel belt pulled tight, sweating, feverish and feeling completely out of control. It felt like I wasn't there and was watching myself struggling with it. Happened to me in August 2014, fully checked out since and touch wood, doctors told me I'm fine now I had the stent fitted, which was within the hour of it happening after being sent to Sheffield by ambulance. I watched them do the op wide awake, most bizarre feeling. Makes you appreciate the important things in life when something like that happens.
