Surely it's got to be John Barry's 'The Persuaders'? Still a seriously haunting tune. And in second place, Robinson Crusoe (that awesome black and white version). I've just discovered it was made in 1964! French I think. Brilliant tune and programme whether it was or wasn't anyway.

I'd go for Robinson Crusoe as well, I only have to hear that music and I'm 8 again! I've got the full CD of the music somewhere, but I think you'll like this - a minisuite of all the main themes from the show was put together for a CD release and someone has put it on Youtube here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE10msGsCn4
Just sit back and let the nostalgia take over! lol
-
I might be on my own here but the best thing and most memorable aspect of Robinson Crusoe was the first 30 secs of the theme tune .
The sound of the hairs stood on back of your neck music tied in with footage of slight waves swilling in .
Fact that it's in black/white sends it up to the moon ,as it would be shite if it was done in colour .
For the life of me I can't recall one single story line ,only that when ever it came on it was early Saturday morning or school holidays.
-
How about The Flashing Blade and Arthur of the Britons.
-
Wolfie 1953 just before the coronation,my mate at school who lived opposite us and went home for lunch, told me at school that they were putting up a TV ariel on our roof.
Two very excited mates and I ran all the way from school in Askern and sat down to watch Muffin the Mule.
Not only that,I think we even watched the fishes swimming on the interlude, when programmes shut down between childrens hour and the adult programmes.

Pete Duel was in Alias Smith And Jones when he died. They recast his part and carried on, but it didn't last much longer though.

The into to this has me in tears every time and I just love breaking out into random chants as I try the exact same style .

You jammy sod Glyn!! I didn't even know there was a dvd.... I wonder if it's still available?
It's like sitting on the floor in front of the black and white again Oslo isn't it? Brilliant.
Bob
-
Bob I only have effection for the black/white Robinson Crusoe fella.
My long standing memory is allways of the opening scene with the music and sea waves beach play making the hairs still stand up today.
Maybe Iam stuck in a time warp as I would love to go back to a black & white on tvs days of society .
No Facebook or social Media ,2pts for a win .milk delivered to doorstep ,cane at school ,repect police and all elders ,lady's first ,allways stand up when a lady leaves the table and stand again when she returns.
Simple things that I like but a massive impossible ask to happen

A new copy of the tv series will set you back around £15 quid, and a used copy around a fiver from music magpie, both advertised on ebay uk.
-
You'll be able to get it from Amazon
-
That begs a question for us oldies...how old were you when your family went from a b&w tv to a colour one? We got one in time for the 1978 World Cup, so it would have been just before I turned 14.

This will make you giggle Glynn.
Early mid 1970s me old man was on the dole so our milk was rationed vil a drip system.
Woke up one morning with me younger brother and we went down stairs to watch tv > so a Saturday morning .there was no milk delivered this day after checking the doorstep or no milk in the fridge ,so we had our sugar puffs with cold water .
Sure we was watching bbc ,but as the bbc world thing was rolling round on the tv screen the voice said that the whatever time bbc news will be in colour .
Me and me brother wet are pants as we had never seen colour tv before and ran around the house like two tits in a trance gobbling off that we will be seeing colour .
Oldman came downstairs to see what all fuss was about. shrugged his shoulders laughed and went back upto bed ' but dad dad dad don't you want to see colour tv'???????????????????????
We had not worked it out that there was no way we would get colour tv on out black white tv ,and to here Iam today still not believing what the bbc ever say.
When we did get a colour tv I do know that back then the tv colour leicence was more than the black and white tv leicence > how many said they had black white tv to save a few bob

Thank you chaps for the suggestions. All very, very welcome! And Oslo, re your post 'reply 36' above, yes. All of that. In Spades. Vulnerable. Redoubled.
