Like many others, when Rovers played Colchester in our last league fixture in 1998, I seriously wondered if that would be Rovers last ever match.
Little did I know that our match against Bury on 24 September 1983, won 3-1 with goals by Ernie Moss, Steve Lister and Colin Douglas might also have been our last match and the match 3 days later at Belle Vue against eventual runaway Champions York to our second place might never have taken place.

Thank you Stanislav Petrov, RIP. We in the West had no idea for years of how close we all came to annihilation.
Just have to worry about N.Korea now.
