The late Steve Adams?

Yep. That photo is from Steve's "Tricky Wingers" football school site. It was taken a year or two back when Steve was terminally ill with cancer. Quite poignant.

The one next to Wilcox looks more like Max Nicholson than Grant Morrow.
Not a bad team though.
In their prime would it beat today's lot, and how many of those at their best would get in the current side?

Okay, I'll start it off.
Players who would get in current side...Brevett, Raven, Wilcox definitely, Duggie, Buckie and Steve Gaughan possibly.
At their best would they beat the current team?
Not sure I'd put money on it either way.

Great to see some of the retro stars!

Have to agree with the point above - I don’t think Grant Morrow is in that photo.

I ought to add, Steve was a gem as a football coach. I used to take my two kids to his sessions. He was absolutely brilliant with kids of all abilities. Involved them all. Made it fun and always had a quip for the parents.

I introduced myself as a Rivers fan to him. He immediately shot back, "which performance of mine do you most remember?"

" Chesterfield away. New Year's Day when you dived for that last minute penalty," says I.

He looked most put out. He shouted, "I never dived. He clipped me and I went down."

Then he burst out laughing.

Top bloke. A real loss.

That reminds me of a few years ago when Bobby Charlton was being interviewed.
He was asked what he thought the outcome would be if his England team of 1966 could play the current England team.
Bobby said that the current team would win 1-0.
When he was asked why he thought that he said “well we are all in our sixties and seventies now”.
