Likely to be out for 4 months.
-
No doubt some fans won't be fussed as they don't rate him, but he's barely had a chance this season.
Pity, we could have done with him finding his form.
-
I reckon that's the last we will see of him in a Rovers shirt.4 months out takes us to around April. Then he has to get match fit.And cant see a new contract for him tbh..
-
Don't like any player getting injured, it is very sad for the lad, it was a bad tackle by there lad, I wanted him to get a chance with us but I don't think he will get much chance with us now as 4 month will take him near the end of the season, DF will bring someone in in window so I feel his chance has now gone
-
I agree Vicar.I liked Williams...Sometimes it feels like some players suffer a dip in form and are then thrown to the wolves by fans and the manager alike.Whilst others can saunter along doing nothing to warrant a starting place yet get picked every week...
-
Maybe Williams has been thrown to the wolves by the manager, but I don't think he has been by the fans. He has received some stick on the forums, true, but I've not witnessed any on match days. In fact, when he came on as sub at Bury the fans were still offering their wives to him, despite him not rising to the occasion of late.
-
I too rated AW.
He got some stick on the forum for not having a good season in L2 but he scored 11 goals in 25 starts which in my eyes is a good return.
When he has managed to get on the pitch this season he has looked more like scoring than JM.
-
Well I think we can safely assume getting at least 1 striker in January is top of DF wish list.We will have Marquis and May with Beestin and Mandeville and DF doesn't fancy either of those two it seems.
-
I think luck has deserted DF as it looks like everything is going tits up where strikers are concerned.
-
Who knows, we might already have a deadly partnership on our books with May and Kiwomya. it'll certainly be a faster one, guaranteed!

I’m not sure May is that quick, maybe over about 4 feet.
-
We don't really know when Kiwomya is going to be fit yet..We hear he is ahead of schedule but with what he has had it must be difficult to put a time frame on it..

His ability to actually run 4 feet without falling over gives him an advantage.

I reckon he is nearer to 5 feet than four.

Beestin's not a striker, so without Williams we only have three senior strikers on the books. This will make the need for a striker coming in in January will be of a higher priority to Fergie now. A shame for Williams but he hasn't exactly pulled up any trees in the last year.

He has hardly been given much of an opportunity to do so.
A few sub appearances of a few minutes doesn't give anyone much opportunity to find form.
-
Let’s see what January brings.. hopefully DF already has looked at available players..
-
Have heard from a reliable source that a certain Paddy Madden is looking for a move to Rovers in the January window, after falling out with Scunny manager..... Your thought's ..mine not for me, but we wait and see.

Idd take him

A close friend of his told me a similar story in the summer TBH.
He was apparently keen to join us then but for reasons unknown to me it didn't happen.
I would be happy for him to come, he is a natural finisher, just what we need.
-
Good point Hound.
Madden was heavily linked in the summer, no idea where all this has come from with him but I'd take him in a heartbeat.
-
2 strikers needed for me, goalscorer and a big lad.
-
James Hanson at blades seems out of favour
-
He did not look as good as Mandeville in the cheka trade match at the K.M. far from it,he looked shot.
-
Get those Mande tinted specs off Shelby. Madden didn’t pull any trees up and made a mess of his pen, but he gives us more experience and strength. For me, he could fill either the Copps or Rowe position with ease, as neither Copps or Rowe have done much lately. Trouble is, can we afford him (or someone similar)?

I would imagine not being able to offload Williams may have had something to do with it
-
My thought's exactly Selby...
-
Didn't Madden have a pre-season trial with us a few years back when SOD was manager? I seem to remember he played for us at Grimsby.
-
Affordability of Madden...have heard he is on 6 grand a week at scunnny...
-
No wonder they are looking to get rid of him - 24 games this season and 4 goals - 2 of which were against Plymouth and the other 2 in the League Cup.

he can't pull up trees when he has been injured like most of the time
-
Sorry for Williams not his biggest fan but don’t want see anybody injured. Well we will have get at least one striker in January. With Williams still on our books I suppose it could be a loan.

Madden's goal-scoring record is very hit and miss:
2010/11 (Carlisle - League One): 0 goals in 14 appearances
2011/12 (Carlisle - League One): 1 goal in 19 appearances
2012/13 (Carlisle & Yeovil - League One): 24 goals in 42 appearances
2013/14a (Yeovil - Championship): 0 goals in 10 appearance
2013/14b (Scunthorpe - League Two): 5 goals in 21 appearances
2014/15 (Scunthorpe - League One): 17 goals in 55 appearances
2015/16 (Scunthorpe - League One): 23 goals in 52 appearances
2016/17 (Scunthorpe - League One): 11 goals in 40 appearances
2017/18 (Scunthorpe - League One): 4 goals in 24 appearances
We seem to have been linked with Madden since Ferguson joined us. I'd take him, but only providing the finances of the deal suit us.
-
Would prefer hanson but for balance it needs someone quicker?
-
I wonder if there is a possibility that this may scupper any deal for anyone. Maybe getting rid of Williams in Jan was part of the freeing up some wages to get anyone in.
Hopefully, we can do something as it is obvious that we are struggling a little at the moment to get any sort of constant form.
Yet the frustrating thing for me is having someone like Whiteman on the bench all the time, then reading in the Freepress that we expect him to stay longer than Jan.
-
I mentioned James Hanson at the start of the season but someone else on here said he was on 10k a week at the Blades

:welcome: home on

To be fair, those appearances that are listed include substitute ones and are not just starts.
However, even including all of them he is still running at almost a goal every three games.
Quite a consistent record over nine seasons.
-
He's had 3 good seasons and 1 average one out of 9.
-
I make that now 2 players of ours out long term to bad tackles that were not punished. Was not Danny Andrew injured by a bad tackle from Liam Trotter of Wimbledon - and Trotter later apologised but said it was his home debut and he felt he needed to make an impression on the fans.
What happenned to retroactive punishment where a referee has not seen something?
And don't get me started on Mitrovic and Alcock and a so called pre-season friendly.
-
Never mind retrospective punishment, it might be good if referees at this level were vaguely competent.
-
James Hanson at blades seems out of favour
He's on 10k a week there from what I've heard.
-
That's a real shame for Williams. I hope he can get himself fit and re-start his career next season.
-
I feared the worst when Willo hobbled off at Wigan and this is awful news for the lad. I'm gutted for him, he looked full of enthusiasm when he came on as sub the other night, only to get crocked before he'd had a chance to get going.
He must be feeling sick right now. I really hope he recovers fully and gets another chance, but sadly I doubt it will be with us.
-
Eoin Doyle could be worth a bid if money is available in January. Proven at this level, and has scored 11 goals in 13 league games on loan at Oldham from Preston so far this season.
-
The problem is I think we are all pretty much agreed that we cant go with a young inexperienced player this time..We need experience, someone whose been there and done it at league 1...
The only way we are going to get a player like that, is if he is out of favour at his current club like Madden..The hope of course that a fresh start at a new club, who has faith in him and is willing to give him a chance results in a return to form...Of course it doesn't always work out like that and it turns into a lemon...That's the chance we have to take somewhere...
-
Chris brown anyone

No thanks, more injury prone than Williams currently is.
