Title: Brentford and late goals... ...again!
Post by: DRNaith on November 27, 2017, 09:52:37 pm
Brentford were winning two nil, well into four minutes of injury time, but finish the game two all.

Clearly not just us that they're overly generous to!

Ian Holloway at his best

⏱ 90+2' - QPR 0-2 Brentford 😎
⏱ 90+5' - QPR 2-2 Brentford 😳

Ian Holloway to @QPRFC fans:

🗣 "That's for the fans that stayed, they deserve that. To the ones that left, if you're gonna leave early, don't bother coming at all, stay at home." 👏

All very well for him to say - he leaves most of his jobs "early" - so maybe he should stay home as well !

My initial impression watching it live were both QPR goals, were offside

Didnt see em but lots of goals are given these days that at the exact time the ball is played the action can be stopped and a case can (usually) be proven that someone was offside at that point

Conversely you can often see the opposite "proven" and a goal was wrongly disallowed.

However a Lino has a hard job because he has to be able to judge when the ball was actually struck (even 50 yards or more to his left) and where each Player was standing / running at that exact time

So should we :

a) abolish Offsides altogether ?
b) bring in massive loads of technology ?
c) carry on as we are doing ?

Just a thought

It's a difficult one Wolf.
I would have needed to see a replay of both goals to be sure, and for some reason Sky didn't freeze frame either goal at the appropriate time. We already have goal line technology in the Premier League, and I think eventually other technology, including for offsides, will happen. It's too important not to.
Rugby is awash with technology for decisions, so is cricket. Does it detract from the excitement? In my opinion, no it doesn't

If anything it adds to it, I think. Like the 2007 RWC final with the Cueto (I think) try (or non-try as it turned out), for example

Had this dispute at work last night, it’s ‘us’ fans that put money into his bank account every week, what a moron for saying such words, hope he gets the stick he deserves come the next game.

I cannot wait for offside technology in the premiership.
I cannot see it lasting more than a couple of years, because the big losers will be the big clubs. They play more of the game in their opponents penalty area, are awarded most of the contentious decisions,The referees are fans of the big clubs and want to referee at Old Trafford etc.
The Chesterfield semi final stands out as not wanting a small club getting to Wembley,The Palace Man U final another case just last season.
Bring it on it is about time we had fairness, but stand by for the fall out when it affects certain "big" clubs a couple of weeks in a row.

I think linesmen in the Prem have improved massively in recent seasons.

Amazing that should happen in favour of two London clubs in two nights.

I'm with him all the way there. I can't help laughing at the early leavers, I'll never understand
