Not Rovers related, but I see they got absolutely smashed with a 4-0 defeat at Hearts today.
What stood out is a 16 year old scored the opening goal and he was one of Hearts' best players.
Now if Celtic are supposedly the best team in the league with an unbeaten record of 60-odd matches, then is the standard in Scotland that bad nowadays or is this kid some sort of Junior Messi?
-
Scottish football is dreadful these days. The kid is said to have some potential however.

Not only that but they have been labelled "The Invincibles"
Cant be ar**d to look back and see some of the Teams they have "beaten" in Cups and Leagues as there will be some very poor ones they have beaten and even the SPL Teams are full of players that failed down here or went up there to lengthen their Playing careers - so its NO great achievement for me
The Commentator did say "they can only beat what is in front of them" but The Invincible tag is not worthy of them. Arsenal in that Season yes - Man City if they manage this Season unbeaten YES. Celtic NO not for me
I am glad we wont have to have the BBC obligatory "blurb" - well Celtic made it 57 / 59 / 61 games unbeaten domestically blah blah etc etc
So altogether now NIL and counting !
-
Was enjoyable game.hearts put one hundred per cent effort in.wanted to win.
-
so celtic might have done whatever but i still smile when i think of his first match in Europe Lincoln Red Imps (of Mighty Gibraltar -with a rock of a defence) 1 Celtic 0

SPL is like league one of England.

SPL is like league one of England.
Agree - and I bet they would not get to even 15 in a row in Div 1. We would probably be leading them 1-0 but of course both Teams have a thing about late goals !
-
I don't really understand why so many people seem to have a chip on their shoulder about the SPL. Yes, they were only unbeaten for so long because they played a lot of shite, and the league standard in general isn't great, but it's reported in the press/on the beeb etc because they are a massively well supported club. They don't print articles for the sake of it, they print what people want to read.
-
I am some what perplexed by some of the comments on this thread. Sure the SPL is not the most competitive league in the world but you can only beat what is in front of you. To suggest that Celtic wouldn’t win 15 games in a row in league one are the incoherent ramblings of a complete buffoon.
-
If Celtic/Rangers were in our Football League system, how far do folk think they would progress?
With their support, I reckon they'd become established in the top two divisions very quickly - assuming they started at the bottom and worked their way up - and then would either become a yo-yo club similar to where Newcastle are right now, or kick on in the PL and become like Everton.
A few years ago I'd have thought they'd do even better, but the landscape has changed in money terms after the last few transfer windows.
I don't know where Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, etc, would find their place though. Maybe League One, maybe at the top end of League Two, but certainly no lower...
-
Nah. Would be permanent top half. Only thing stopping them going higher would be that no bugger would want to live in freezing cold Glasgow. Both have far bigger global reach than even Newcastle, especially Celtic.
-
If they were in the PL, the historical name and potential global market that Celtic and Rangers have would make them prime targets for a major investor. I suspect they’d both be top 10 sides in short order.
Shite really, int it? They’re history counts for f**k all without access to the pigs’ trough that is the PL.
-
Can't see them attracting anyone who wants to play in European competitions though, seeing as they won't be allowed to enter them.
And that's assuming they'd even be good enough to qualify for Europe.

Well from a complete buffoon I will dare to ramble again - exactly how can we prove my opinion - which is all it is - is off the mark / wrong / inaccurate ?
They are unlikely to play in our Division any time soon so the "moment" will be lost. I base my ramblings and buffoonery only on the fact that Celtic are beating and have been beating Teams containing Paul Heffernan Dean Shiels Richard Offiong Martin Woods Gary Woods and Paul Quinn. There are also many many more like them who could not get in other Third tier sides because they were not good enough by way of skill or old age
So imo if Portsmouth MK Dons Blackburn Wigan and yes even Rovers got a weekly crack at them I reckon they would not win 15 in a row
As I say - we can never prove it - so possibly a pointless ramble following (again in my opinion) something that was not the rambling of a complete buffoon. Hope the post was "coherent" enough this time round too

There is no doubt with their respective Fan bases which we all know are huge they would be a viable target for an investor be that from abroad or domestic - and yes they would quickly be funded to make a move on the top 4 and be I think (imo only) be quickly up in the Top 10
However that is just a "guess" as it probably wont happen and wont be allowed to happen even though Cardiff and Swansea and Newport are in the English system
-
I would say they're unlikely to get 15 league wins in a row purely on the basis that it's taken nearly 130 years for an English team to do it.
-
I’m just hoping they implode now. Hoping Aberdeen been them at weekend. How much fun would it be (albeit almost impossible) if Celtic didn’t win the league. I’d pxxx myself for a week

Your screen name suggests that you might.

To put things into context about how big Celtic and Rangers are as clubs. When Celtic played Porto in the uefa cup final they took 80000 fans even though their allocation was 25000. Rangers took 130000 fans to Manchester when they played zenith and their allocation was 25000....can’t imagine many clubs taking numbers like that
-
There is a lot of worldwide support for Celtic and Rangers, but a lot of that support is as a second club or even a third club. In Northern Ireland as you can imagine there is a lot of support but a vast amount of people support a team in the English league as well, not to mention a Northern Irish team.
This no doubt happens with supporters from other countries where English is spoken as the main language.
-

Wouldn't they qualify as an English representative in Europe.
I'm sure the rules got changed not long after Cardiff got to the FA Cup Final and wouldn't have been eligible for Europe, but a few years later it benefited Swansea when they won the League Cup.
Swansea definitely played in Europe.

You're right, they would if an FA dispensation was made for them. I hadn't noticed the policy had changed, thanks.
-
Cannot see FA seeking a dispensation as there is a feasible case for either club becoming competitive in the medium term and knocking one of the big boys out of the top four spots. No way would the usual five or six suspects want to surrender their reasonably secure pot of European gold each season.
-
They are on a roll again - but the BBC cant help starting with "after their record breaking run ended recently"
Come on Rangers or Aberdeen get yer a***s in gear sometime s-o-o-n
-
This season's title is gone. Rangers and Aberdeen have been falling over themselves to blow it every time Celtic slip up (which by their standards is a draw).
-
Yeah Title already decided for this year but by s-o-o-n I meant before they get anywhere near 60+ again

For nearly 100 years 2 teams ruled Scotland. Celtic and Rangers. They are both like Scottish football a joke Barely worth has a line in the Scott Daily Mail . As of 2017, Rangers have won 54 and Celtic 48, while no other club has won the title on more 4 occasions . Says it all . And I’m from Fife my flower of Scotland .
