I doubt I would have given that decision, a penalty?
Has our luck changed?
-
Yes it has the ball never went out for their goal I was stood dead in line. Harder for the linesman as it was far side for him.
-
what I found strange about the penalty was that none of their players complained to the ref?
Did I miss something?
-
I was stood on the linesman shoulders .. ball out for a corner AND Rowe was knocked over too! So there and I don't care if it is called biased judgement in our favour ( for once) .. to be serious I replayed the incidents three times on I follow defo pen !
-
Their assistant manager said it was a definite penalty
-
If that is the case then the camera angle lied! but that would explain the lack of reaction from the defenders!
-
Looks like a pen on tv but was a 100% dive from our angle. He went down easy and we've seen plenty more clear cut not given. An excellent referee, I'm sure Bristol would agree
-
If it was a dive I'm sure their defender would be going mad. He didn't even complain
-
Just looks like a clumsy attempt at a tackle and although it is hard to tell, the defender probably did foul Rowe hence no complaints.
-
Wow, just read the comments from Bristol/Assistant manager and a reporter and they say it was a definite penalty.

Never get the top job admitting to that.
Always a number two.
-
great penalty, but whats kongolo doing on that last chance in the highlights? just runs straight at their player so he can knock it past him! kids so green its amazing
-
Would have been nice for marquis to bury it, he's obviously lacking in confidence... which sadly all the forward players must be for mason to take it..
-
Ferguson will have given it to mason, he's done well in the shootouts and they practice on the training ground.
He must do well
None of our attaching players have really done well at pens these last couple of years

Fergie said in his post match interview he told them to sort it out themselves

There are plenty of full backs who have been first choice penalty takers over the years.
-
Im sure beeston buried one in one of the earlier checkatrade shootouts, im sure he would have loved to get his account off thr ground.
-
I know they regurlary practice on the training ground so maybe he's been shit hot at them
-
He's one of our players. But Rowe is a total cheat everytime he gets into the box

I remember Vince Brockie (who was a top bloke, btw) was a dab hand with penalties. Other aspects of his game were not so good, although he was unlucky with injuries.
Phil Neal was Liverpool's regular penalty taker despite all the attacking talent they had in that side. And then there was Norman "Cannonball" Curtis. He was Rovers player-manager in 1960-61 after a long career with Sheffield Wednesday. He seldom crossed the half way line unless it was to take a penalty. He got a team-mate to put the ball on the spot and started his run up on the halfway line. I think he missed one in his entire career.
-
Two more that come to mind are Jacky Brownsword (50 goals for Scunthorpe, all but one being penalties) and Ray Stewart of West Ham (84 goals, all but 6 being penalties)
-
I once saw Graham Alexander take two in one Premier League game.
He put the first into the top corner to the keeper's right.
He hit the next one with the outside of his foot into the other top corner. They both went like rockets as well, no hesitation in the run up and he never looked like missing.
-
I remember that Idler, Alexander probably took the best penalties I've seen in football.

didn't Alfie score on his debut against Mansfield in a cup game last season?
-
Julian Dicks wasn't bad at pens
-
Leighton Baines.
-
And that Colombian goalie was a penalty taker too, Higuita?
-
McIndoe was absolutely peerless when with us.
-
McIndoe wasn’t a full back.
