I hope they’ve got the covers on. Shovels to the ready !!!
-
It’ll be fine, well cold but should be okay by game time.

Agree on the :cold: :cold: :cold: but get some :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: s deployed !
-
No covers if they're not needed, kills the grass and ruins the surface
-
It will need covering tonight but should thaw out during the day.
-
I think waterlogging might be more of an issue than the snow itself.
-
Actually having just seen the forecast I think the game could be in doubt. Maybe not because of the pitch but because of snow in the surrounding areas.
-
They have to come over the pennines.
-
I’ll give 100/1 on the game being off.
-
A bit of rain down the east coast today. Just seen the Boston pitch following all the rain.
-
Ill give 100/1 on the game being off.
So do you think it's a near certainty it will be on or off?
-
BBC forecast says a bit of snow between 6 and 10 am, with 4 degrees got most of the day..
The game is at 7.45, so unless the snow is really heavy, I can’t see why the stadium and surrounding areas shouldn’t be ok by then?
Why does this country seem to grind to a halt whenever there is wintry weather, in winter!!
-
According to BBC forecast for Donny, it's likely to snow for 3 to 4 hours in the early hours but with temps rising to 4* during the day with no more snow, I'd say the game will be on.

I blame the younger generation, they're all snowflakes...
-
Canada is getting an Arctic Blast at the moment and for next few days, currently -32 with the wind chill factor, some areas of Ontario are down to -50 with the wind chill factor. Plus we had a big dollop of snow on Christmas Day.
-
Saw those reports Les, makes a smattering of snow here that grinds the country to a standstill look daft, 5 foot of snow in places, that might put the game in doubt

It'll be fine as I don't think the snow will have a proper chance to settle.
It's the possible waterlogging from melted snow and then rain in the afternoon that concerns me more, but I doubt it'll be enough for a postponement.
Even Dave Morris would be able to get this game on!

The day after a snow storm the roads get cleared and its back to normal. There might be six inches of packed snow and ice on the roads, but fortunately most people have winter tires on their cars and trucks, those who don't are head cases. It's life in Canada, what is worse than snow here are the frigid temperatures we are having, -32 feels ice cold on exposed skin.

Bloody hell I wouldn't go that far.

If Dave Morris says it's GAME ON, then it's GAME ON alright. :silly:

What is it like this morning. I see they are having an inspection at the racecourse at 9.30am. Did we get the snow?
-
A dusting, it's not snowing now, nothing to worry about at the moment
-
A very light covering here in Wheatley Hills, but windy though
COYR
-
That's weird, in the real Wheatley we have had snow up to a good men's 12 inches 😉
-
An inch or more in Bradford and still snowing. We live in a cul-de-sac on a bit of a hill so no gritters up here.
-
Similar here Idler. my old mum says Mexborough conditions not good too. Lot will depend on how the day pans out BBC1 RAC just mentioned Doncaster as an area of caution and L**ds but the latter could just be generally?
-
It's melting already anyway. Unless we get a heavy fall, I reckon most of it will be gone by 11am.
It was very frosty last night so not sure how it will affect the races. If they call that off we could profit from folk switching their sporting fix.
-
... and Knights are on Telly as well. Same KO as us but as its a Sky game it will probably got ahead ?
Temp tipped to rise by 9 degrees from now - so Rovers should be aok
-
Bloody hate coming over the wolds from Scarbados for night matches at this time if year. You never know if the gritters will have been out or not. Very tempted to give it a miss tonight and stay where it's warm, but shall review the situation later.

Glad you mentioned the Knights playing, there'll be congestion around the Armthorpe Road Leger way roundabout. I think I'll take the motorway instead
-
All part of the service !
-
Doncaster races have been called off.
-
Frozen track at races. Temp are going to rise from now on so should be good to go
-
Concerns about standing water at the racecourse

Heading up today so the earliest indication would be good.

Ahem ... given the track record of Philsky I reckon we should tell him the truth
Snow over 10" deep and tipped to fall throughout the day.
At its best in that area and anywhere further South already a white out with impassable roads. Train Lines blocked with Power Cables down and Donny Airport unprecedented closure for snow
How early do you want us to put you off ?
-
Blizzard now in Bradford, flakes as big as half crowns.
-
It's raining now and the little bit of slush left will be soon gone.
-
I live a mile from the Keepmoat and there is no snow settling at all. There's a bit coming down now but it is very wet and so is the ground.
Game on!
-
It's raining at Lakeside. Snow mixed in, but not settling and not got a chance of settling.
It'll be fine.
-
Heavy Snow forecast for next 3 hrs in DN4, but can't see it doing any damage.

MATCHDAY | There was a light dusting of snow overnight at the Keepmoat Stadium, but this is being cleared by rain as the morning progresses. Temperatures are rising and forecast to reach 6c by the time of kick-off, perfect for Friday night football under the lights. #DRFC
-
Yup just damp here now there was snow earlier but didn't last long. Can't see any problems.
-
Can't imagine snow at the Keepmoat will be a problem. However, Rochdale have to get to Donny first. I live on the Western edge of Sheffield and snow is coming down as fast as I've ever seen. Hoping the forecast rain arrives soon!

If they don't turn up we should be awarded the points, you know, just like the sunday league.
-
They've got all day to get here mostly via M62/A1..

Blizzarding at the moment in S12 too....white over!
-
It's snowing more than raining here now, but still only a light dusting and I'm a 10 minute walk from the Keepmoat.
Again, considering the rain, waterlogging is going to be more of a problem.
This snow would need to keep going for several hours and be more intense for it to cause issues.

If Rochdale do make it through the snow :cold: , let's hope Lightening doesn't strike twice. ;)

Thanks for updates
We'll leave it as late a poss
-
Has a game at the Keepmoat ever been called off for a waterlogged pitch? It always seems to be due to a frozen pitch or treacherous surrounding area so as it stands I think we should be okay.

Wasn't there a game two or three years ago, maybe against MKDons, when it was called off due to waterlogging ?
I remember getting to the ground to find it cancelled, it hadn't been freezing or snowing so we had no real reason to think it may be off.
-
11.30 weather update from Anne Honemous....
The snow has ceased and it's now light rain again. The snow hasn't settled at all and it isn't even slushy outdoors or anything.
It'll be on.

I do remember that game being off but can't remember why. Might try a quick Google.

Looks like your memory is spot on Hound, game was called off gone midday due to waterlogging. That's the only instance I can recall though and that day half the EFL fixtures went due to the same reason so the country must have had a deluge.
I actually confirmed it by reading an old Rovers 606 thread manned by our dearly departed forum member Derek, aka "newyankee". He was also expressing dismay that "Fuzzyduck" had left the site, whatever happened to him? I'm sure he had an account on here too.
-
Glad i was right, the brain is still working.
Derek and i had a few differences of opinion but i think respect also went between us.
Bless him.

Both were very strong supporters of our club. WE know what happened to Derek but I have always been concerned about Fuzzy! He was incredible with the level of detailed input with his postings. I do have his email details and I will try and make contact with him again.
Come back Fuzzy
I have sent emails to addresses I have for him and I will let everyone know the outcome.

Fuzzy has been Tweeting from the Winti games these past few weeks.

Yes Fuzzy is still about, just doesn't seem to come around these parts of the internet anymore.
I used to like his posts.

MATCHDAY | The Keepmoat Stadium pitch is completely clear after the overnight snow ahead of Friday night's game against @officiallydale - just £10 for adults. #DRFC
-
To prove that the pitch is fine, the groundsman will probably have the sprinklers on pre match and at half time.
