Copps is indeed outright 6th on our leading scorers (all competitions) list after Tom Keetley, Alick Jeffrey, Bert Tindill, Peter Kitchen and Brendan O’Callaghan, but has some way to catch Brendan.

Perhaps rather surprisingly Copps does not have a full house of records from your list CBCB. He holds 'only' 3 of those records.
Bert Tindill is our leading FAC appearance holder with 28 (Copps has 26 including this season's 2 matches)
Dennis Peacock is our leading FLC appearance holder with 26 (Copps has 24 including 1 this season)
I am not including wartime competition which would promote Syd Bycroft above Copps in most seasons and most appearances in all competitions.
All of this (and excruciatingly much more) appeared in the last Fanzine number 91 (unashamed plug for local charities....)

He should *should* add a 27th FA Cup appearance this season, hopefully a 28th too.
Another season might see him break all of these five.

He will do anther season. I would be very surprised if he didn’t.
He just needs managing sensibly with game time on the pitch which DF is doing this season.
Every chance he will then break all competition appearance records.
I hope he does it. He deserves all the accolades. A true ledgend.

Sounds great. Excited to see what the pair of you come up with, whatever it is the man deserves it.
For me, our greatest ever. In terms of longevity, technical skill, success, key historic goals and performances, he might not be #1 in all those fields, but I can't think of another player who comes as close to the top in all of them as a total package. Not saying anything new here but it will be a sad day when he hangs up the boots.

494 after Friday's game. I reckon barring injury he will get there some time in February.
There are only two other current players who have made over 400 League appearances for one club. Dean Lewington of MK Dons (557) and Leon Britton of Swansea (460). Matt Bloomfield of Wycombe Wanderers is on 399, so could reach 400 tomorrow.

Sorry about my poor phraseology. It's the 500 League appearances that is rare.

Re. Lewington- yes. Strictly speaking he has never moved clubs, but they were called Wimbledon when he started. Off the top of my head he played 29 games before they mutated into Franchise.

That's all matches, but he is one of those who made over 500 appearances for one club.
Speaking of Man United, Paul Scholes ended his career on 499 League appearances. The Hanif Mohammad of football!

Scholes must be sick as pig, surely he could have been give 1 more league fixture.

I recall Scholes took a coaching role but then came out of retirement in the second half of the season. Maybe he ran out of games.
I met Hanif at Trent Bridge many years ago. He said it was always the first thing people mentioned when they met him.
