Title: Minutes applause for fans
Post by: Lincoln Rover on December 30, 2017, 10:56:44 pm
At last nights game there was now the traditional minutes applause to remember the Donny fans and officials who passed away in this year.
I simply wished to say that it was lovely to see all persons present joining in from what I could see including the Rochdale fans.
A club ( our club ) doing a nice gesture to show, when it matters we are together.

Of the 14 names listed on the big screen, I knew 4 of them. Quite a potent tribute.

At smaller clubs like us and Rochdale fans take some replacing. The big clubs that are always on tv and Sky can attract from all over the world.
Us smaller clubs are far more selective. 😉
Many are called but few are chosen springs to mind. RIP to those that we have lost over the last twelve months.

One of the most touching tributes I’d taken part in it was very poignant and it should have a place every year for all those who need reminding of their friends and family who loved the team we love .

We've probably bumped into most if not all of them at some point maybe without realising as well.

Is there a list of the 14 names anywhere?

Kicking myself cos a mate of mine passed away a couple of Months back. I wore an extra scarf in his honour for the next Home game ... but he was not listed on the board

Wish I had have put his name forward

Saw Retford Rover photographing / filming the Board. Very poignant for him

So he at least will have the list !

I can confirm that this came up as an idea in the Supporters board meeting and WILL be an annual event.

Des used to sit behind me in the south end of the west stand. Him and Denis rarely missed a match.

Lincoln, is my mind playing tricks because I am sure I have been present at the KMS when this has taken place before.

It happened last year I think, I'm sure it's happened at some point in the past anyway.

To clariffy, I meant the original idea came out of a supporters board meeting last season. This one ( Friday night) WAS the second as you suggest.
It's been agreed it will remain an annual event.
Hope that stops people thinking they've been dreaming.
Happy New Year.
