Striker Paddy Madden has joined Fleetwood Town from League One rivals Scunthorpe United on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Fleetwood have not revealed the exact transfer fee but say they have paid a "six-figure sum" for the 27-year-old.
scunny gates are rubbish as someone recently pointed out will be interesting to see if cracks start developing
if that morriss bloke goes then the alarm bells will ring
-
I don't get your point... They have offloaded a squad player who doesn't start very often for a six figure fee.We couldn't give our squad players away.
Scunthorpe always find good strikers and get top dollar for them, nothing to do with ambition, just means they can strengthen other areas without weakening the first 11....
-
I bow to your superior knowledge didn't realise he was only a squad player -- from what i've sen of them they play a very dour game in fact i thought of them as the last team Ferguson would want to manage
-
He's been off the boil since last season, so they cashed in for £150K. No alarm bells, they'll still get play offs.
-
He’s meant to be a shithouse. It’s a £150k and big wages gamble.
-
4 goals and 1 assist all season. No massive coup.
-
He always seems to do better after moving to a new club, though. He'll probably help to ensure their safety in L1.
-
Very hit and miss but aren't most goalscorers at this level?
I vaguely remember hearing that he had a poor attitude when he was at Yeovil which is perhaps partly why he has fallen out of favour.
-
If I remember rightly there were a number of posts on here wanting PD & DF to sign him over the last 3 years. Some fairly recent ones.
I think his best days are probably behind him.
Will be interesting to see how he does at Fleetwood.
-
I would have had him as a Williams replacement in the summer but it looks like we dodged a bullet as he's been poor this season. A move will probably do him some good. Looks like he's a replacement for Devante Cole who seems Bramall Lane bound

I've heard that about Cole. How many strikers do they need at Bumhole Lane though? It's almost back to the days of Colin!

I think two are on their way out in this window. Hanson to Bury and Lavery going out on loan

He very nearly signed in the summer.

I heard towards the end of last season from someone who used to work for them, that Scunny's chairman was going for promotion last season for one last try and if they didn't he'd have to wind in the cash a bit.
With Dawson leaving them in the summer and now this, it suggests it's slowly going that way, albeit slower than anticipated.
-
Not if they get Doyle on loan.
-
Madden has featured in 20 of Scunnys league games this season.

Their most featured forward. Hardly a squad player.
-
Scunny just signed McGeehan on loan, cost Barnsley £1 million in the summer.

Maybe the moral to that story is don’t spend millions on 4th division players.

If I remember right there was an excellent behind the scenes video at Sheffield Utd on transfer deadline day. Cole transfer went right to the last minute I think. Really interesting it was.
Wilder came across well in it too.

McGeehan did always look good in league 2, on highlights admittedly, shame we couldn't of nipped in for him with Whiteman not staying. McGeehan was a goalscoring midfielder at luton like Whiteman so would of fit
-
Sunderland and Hull are both targeting Scunnys highly rated winger Hakeeb Adelakun, so he'll be off very shortly . Hopefully be for we before we play them in a few weeks time.

yep he McGeehan broke his leg in Jan 2017 playing for Luton against Portsmouth Luton moaned like hell at the time about the tackle and he missed the rest of the season Luton paid 6 figures with a sell on clause (the lad is x chelsea so probably knew Houghton as a junior) Luton "allegedly" tried to "reciprocate" !!! .... against Rovers when Houghton got badly injured - in Feb 2017 and also missed the rest of the season as we know

Now he is a player I like.
When we played Luton away last season he was the best player on the park by a mile.
It is a pity DF didn’t go for him.
-
Maybe he did but couldn't get him? There must be far more goes on behind the scenes we never get to see.

Well you might be right. Maybe he thought Scunthorpe were a better bet as have much more chance this season of getting promoted. Over the next 3 years I think we would be the better option.
I am very biast though!!! Would be surprised though if Scunthorpe were able to offer him more money than us.
Yes we do not know what is going on behind the scenes at all.
-
It’s all about getting him games under his belt, Scunorp might have guaranteed him a starting place, we’ve got two good central midfielders out on loan to league one clubs now with young Alex at Oxford United too. I think finding your way back after a horrible injury in hard enough with out trying to do it two divisions heigher then what you’re used to, this could be a smart move for the lad.
-
was about to say doubt the loan is with a view to permenant deal just like Whiteman's was with us
-
I wonder how much some of these players will be going for and how it compares to our budget.

Indeed IDM, and if Jim Dobbin's remark is correct (not doubting it btw) then we were never going to get his signature if another club was willing to pay a million.
